ABC may have soared, scoring the three biggest new hits of the TV season just ending with "Desperate Housewives," "Lost" and "Grey's Anatomy."
But that hasn't stopped the Alphabet Network from doing the shake, rattle and roll next fall.
Despite the big comeback ratings success this season, ABC announced a new prime-time schedule for 2005-06 that includes six new drama series, five comedies and one new reality show. The new lineup -- with seven new series premiering between September and January and the rest to arrive later -- was introduced to advertisers Tuesday in New York.
Most of the changes are aimed at further improving ABC's young adult and female appeal. Prominent newcomers in the freshman class include Geena Davis as the first female president in the drama series "Commander-in-Chief" and Freddie Prinze Jr. in the new sitcom "Freddie."
"Hot Properties," a "Designing Women"-style female ensemble comedy about an upscale Manhattan real estate office, will be paired with Kelly Ripa's returning "Hope & Faith" on Fridays.
Several of ABC's high-profile returning series are moving to new days or time slots. In the wake of breakout success for "Grey's Anatomy," "Boston Legal" is moving from Sundays to 10 p.m. Tuesdays.
Other key moves have "Lost" moving back an hour to 9 p.m. Wednesdays and "Alias" jumping to 8 p.m. Thursdays, though star Jennifer Garner's reported pregnancy may complicate a fall season premiere.
The notable ABC cancellations include family sitcoms "8 Simple Rules," "Complete Savages" and "My Wife and Kids," along with the underachieving midseason dramas "Blind Justice" and "Eyes." The latter -- a witty, sophisticated private eye series starring Tim Daly -- is a regrettable loss. It certainly deserved a second chance.
Meanwhile, ABC showed more sympathy for the low-rated sitcoms "Less Than Perfect" and John Stamos' "Jake in Progress." Both return at midseason.
too bad about 8 simple rules and my wife and kids i liked them, but i do applaude 8 simple.... for the way they handled John;s passing
Pavan 05-18-2005, 10:16 AM Spread the word ... Wednesdays at 8:30pm on ABC this fall. George Lopez airs at 8:00pm. Freddie is said to be the best new sitcom. Tune in!

The Story line is that Junior is single looking for Miss right while living with both his mother and grandmother. Something that he knows a bit about.
Cheryl Harrell 08-03-2005, 01:39 PM Found this on Jr & his new show:

PRINZE JR'S CHEF ROLE THRILLS MOTHER
PRINZE
FREDDIE PRINZE JR's new TV role as a chef has thrilled his mother KATHERINE - because she urged him to train in the profession before he became an actor.
In his upcoming show FREDDIE, the SHE'S ALL THAT star plays a successful chef living in Chicago, and he reveals his new restaurant setting is exactly what his mother had envisioned for him several years ago.
He says, "My mother was a chef, and when I told her I wanted to be an actor, she said, 'Well, you have to go to culinary school because if the acting thing doesn't work, you'll never go hungry.'
"So I took cooking classes and enrolled into the Culinary Institute, actually, in Pasadena (California) and quickly dropped out because DAVID KELLEY gave me my first job in this itty-bitty movie called TO GILLIAN ON HER 37TH BIRTHDAY, and I sort of never looked back.
"But food was such a massive thing in my family, and it was the easiest way to get everyone together and sort of sit down and have time together, as opposed to having family time."

MariposaLKB 08-03-2005, 02:01 PM Thanx mucho for all the details!
But...Kathy was a chef????
Luckymama58 08-03-2005, 02:14 PM Could be that is what she initially trained for, among her other professions. Last I heard she was into real estate. Who knows....
I could so see him as a chef tho. I think he would be a good cook. Seems to me when he was interviewed either right before or right after he got married, he said he would be able to handle being a stay at home dad if his wife's career was hotter than his own, so he must be a good cook! I am so glad he is getting to do more with his acting. And to be paired with GLo's show should help him. Way to go, Freddie Jr. Dad must be so proud!
MariposaLKB 08-03-2005, 02:16 PM Didn't he play a chef in one of his movies? Can't remember which one now.

yes he did...and it was on TV last night..I cant think of the name of it either...dang it.......but i watched a few minutes and as for his mom.... I heard she was trained for one of the oldest professions but I will let it go at that! Freddie must have seen SOMETHING in her....... Personally I think he could have done better....
Luckymama58 08-03-2005, 05:02 PM I know Head over Heals was on the other night, I have it on DVD. It is one of my favorite Jr movies.
I think you are thinking of "Down To You". He plays a student studying to be a chef in that one. I haven't seen it, but I have seen the trailers for it.
MariposaLKB 08-03-2005, 05:12 PM Yeah, that's the one! Thanx, Lucky!
Danisel331 08-11-2005, 03:39 AM Just in case you haven't been over to the Current Sitcoms boards, there is a message board up for Freddie Jr's new show. So far only two people have posted and one was .........well..........less than enthusiastic. So please drop by and show your support for the new show! :)
Danisel331 08-30-2005, 04:35 AM Hey all!
There's a flipbook on the People En Espanol site about the new TV Season having such a Latin flavor this coming season. In it they do a run down of new shows and favorites returning and they mention Freddie Jr's new show. They also mention that he will be the youngest executive producer for ABC. Isn't that cool? :)
:yourock: Freddie would be so proud!
Cheryl Harrell 09-24-2005, 01:13 AM I found an article on the internet saying Jr's new sitcom will be pushed further back in being put on tv & be aired later than origionally planned. Plus the first ep won't be the pilot ep either. Yikes...

ABC Holds Off on Wednesday Comedies
(Friday, September 23 02:32 PM)
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) ABC's new comedy "Freddie" will, at some point, premiere this fall. Eventually. Just not yet.
For now, though, the Freddie Prinze Jr. vehicle and its Wednesday-night lead-in, "George Lopez," will have to wait another week, as the network, still high over the huge premiere for "Lost," will give those few people who didn't see the season opener another chance.
ABC will re-air the "Lost" premiere at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday (Sept. 28), leading into the show's second episode at 9. The network is apparently looking to repeat its success from this week, when a special recapping the first season drew better than 15 million viewers at 8 p.m. and the season debut clocked nearly 23.5 million viewers, ABC's most-watched fall drama premiere since 1995.
The change pushes the hour-long season premiere of "George Lopez," which ABC had already been promoting on-air, back to Wednesday, Oct. 5. That in turn moves "Freddie," originally set to go that night, to Oct. 12. ABC is also opting not to air the "Freddie" pilot as its first episode; in its place will go an episode titled "Rich Man, Poor Girl."
The delay likely also means that "Freddie" will be premiering opposite postseason baseball on FOX. Games in both the American and National league playoffs are scheduled for Oct. 12.
