I think the best film of last year was The Passion Of The Christ. None of the other films came even close to being as good as it. From the acting, to the cinemotography, to the music, and the incredible emotional impact, it was in a league of it's own as far as I'm concerned. My second favorite was the other big controversial film of the year Fahrenheit 9/11. What was your favorite top grossing film of 2004??

Yeah, Mean Girls was a really good movie. I would definitely put that on my top 10 favorite list of 2004. This list is just the top 20 money makers of 2004.

of the list, I'd say Harry Potter & The Prisoner, but I've only seen maybe 1/4 of the movies on that list. Shrek 2 was nowhere as fresh as the first. I haven't seen The Passion, tho I have friends who don't even believe in Jesus who were moved by the film, I'll check it out on HBO. I also would like to see Fahrenheit 9-11 because I did enjoy Bowling For Columbine.

I'm in the middle of watching Shrek 2 on demand right now, and I agree, it definitely doesn't seem as fresh as the original. I'm hoping it'll get better. As far as The Passion goes, unless something has changed, I don't think HBO's going to be airing it. I read something earlier this year about how all the cable movie channels passed on airing it. They said it was because their 2005 schedule was already full, although I find that hard to believe, considering the fact that they've had room for virtually every other top grossing film of 2004. In any case, I think you definitely should check it out one way or another. It's very moving!!

I figured since 20th Century Fox distributed The Passion on DVD and all, that it would find it's way on HBO sooner or later, since they've had a contract that their movies air on HBO for many years. I know The Passion is highly controversial, but you'd think HBO would wanna go ahead and air something that made over $300 million, considering all of the clunkers in Fox's library that HBO has been forced to air, like Freddy Got Fingered. Why would HBO show FGF from Fox and not The Passion?

I have a hard time believing Shrek 2 was only about $3 million away from knocking the original Star Wars out of the #2 position. I loved the first Shrek, it was a breath of fresh air and held up on repeat viewings, because of that, I went to see Shrek 2 as soon as it came out, and hated it. I can see how it made money, but #3 behind only Titanic and Star Wars, and being the top-grosser of the decade so far is kinda hard to understand.

I think my picks for best movie of 2004 that I've seen were Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind and Kinsey. Both movies were probably too though-provoking, and Kinsey was way too controversial (like the director said, the films controversy couldn't benefit the way it did Passion and Fahrenheit 911, because while everyone knows who Jesus and Bush are, Kinsey isn't all that well-known to todays audience), but both films are worth trying out if you have an open mind. Both films deserved more Oscar nods than they got.

I have to be honest with you, I actually ended up kind of liking Shrek 2.Especially the ending, where Fiona had the choice of her and Shrek being normal, or being ogres, and she chose to stay ogres instead. I was afraid that they were going to pull a Beauty and the Beast, and turn Shrek into some prince charming, which in my opinion would have ruined the whole message of the film. The fact that this film empasizes that beauty is only skin deep, is what gives it it's charm. It still wasn't as good as the first Shrek, but it was pretty close I thought.

I agree with BuffySlayer79 though, it definitely shouldn't be the third highest grossing film ever. Iv'e been shocked about that all year. If it would have been rated PG-13, I'm sure it would have made atleast 200 million less. I think it was the fact that it was rated PG, and so many kids went to see it. I think that's probably why it did so well.

I do think that it carries a good message, which is great, but it was a major let down compared to Shrek 1
