I miss those K-Tel albums. I just plain miss vinyl. :( It was cool when you had a whole variety of songs to choose from to warm up a party.

And now you have to buy a $500 iPod, do the work yourself and buy all the accessories to get anything similar. Yeah, those good old K-Tel's!

I had a few during the early 70s. Probably still could find them somewhere along with my "Donny" and "Osmonds Live" albums!

I inherited a number of K-Tel records when my older sister moved out of the house in 1984, I do remember "Hit Explosion" with Mickey, Vacation (Go-Go's), Gloria (Laura Branigan) and Steppin' Out (Joe Jackson) on it.

K-Tel was the "Now" of the 70's and 80's.

I think they were based in Winnipeg Manitoba and went under in the early 80's....

Mine was so old that I remember it had "Crimson and Clover" by Tommy James and the Shondells on it!

Yes, but the U.S. arm was based in Minneapolis/St. Paul Minnesota

Oh sorry - meant to say "founded" in Wpg.. I can see the U.S. office being in the Twin Cities since they're basically due south of Wpg. ;) cool

Good memories - nice thread!
