View Full Version : The Bellows' House
daffodil 08-08-2001, 01:46 AM Here's an interesting piece of trivia for you: Did you ever notice that the exterior of Dr. and Amanda Bellows' house is the same exterior as Darrin and Samantha's house on Bewitched? It would've been too weird if they'd used the same house for both Jeanie and Samantha!!
dawsongirl 08-08-2001, 10:14 PM Yeah, I've noticed that a lot. Strange, don't you think? http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

Congrats to the 2001 Brickyard 400 Champion- Jeff Gordon!
TV Guy 08-09-2001, 02:33 PM A lot of the exteriors for those great old Screen Gems shows were filmed at the same place, the Columbia Ranch (now the Warner Ranch). Check out http://www.bewitched.net/1164mg.htm for a really interesting story about this (along with picture). For instance, did you know that Jeannie and Tony lived in the same house as the Andersons from "Father Knows Best"? Or that the Kravitzes from "Bewitched" lived in the same house as "The Partridge Family"?
I always thought that the Kravitzes stayed in The "Donna Stone" house from "The Donna Reed Show".
The interiors of the Bellows house is also "Bewitched". When I first saw this when i was young, I thought "Hey, Samantha and Darrin is on Jeannie". Now, I know better.
~*Hannah_Lee*~ 05-26-2002, 10:27 PM Yes, the are in fact the same houses, but they are not the same inside. This is because the sets for both the Stevens' and the Bellows' homes where in a studio. If go inside the actual house you will see that it is nothing but plywood, and only about 10ft x 10ft. on the inside. [IMG]http://www.geocities.com/carpet1965/36.jpg[IMG]
I Dream of Jeannie 05-27-2002, 10:34 AM If you go to www.1164.com you can find a ton of pictures of Warner Brothers Ranch and the enteriors of Tony and Jeannie's house along with some others.
THIS IS A PICTURE OF THE HOUSE ON I DREAM OF JEANNIE TODAY:
80sTrivia 05-30-2002, 08:09 PM Cool picture!!! Is the house for sale? I would love to live in the house where Tony and Jeannie lived!!! :)
I Dream of Jeannie 05-30-2002, 08:43 PM I know wouldn't that be awesome!! When I get my own house I'm going to design it like their house in the fifth season!!!!!!!
~*Hannah_Lee*~ 05-31-2002, 11:00 PM Their house in the fifth season is awesome!! It is so neat looking on the inside. Only one thing I would change about it, though. I wouldn't put that ugly yellowish orange glass by the bar. It's so ugly! But then again, if you're gonna make it just like the original, you couldn't forget that part!
80sTrivia 06-01-2002, 10:21 AM I could live with a couple of the Jeannie "extras" in the house, such as the waterfall and stream, the sailboat and the harem tent!!!
SloeDjinn 06-07-2007, 04:28 AM Yes, the are in fact the same houses, but they are not the same inside. This is because the sets for both the Stevens' and the Bellows' homes where in a studio.
In the second season episode "One of Our Bottles is Missing" the interior of the Bellows' home is the "Bewitched" set. They used another for later seasons.
I think that they may have used the master bedroom set from "Bewitched" for the Bellows' home interior and once for Roger's apartment. I'm not sure, but the dormer windows and door placement look very familiar. I don't remember which episodes they were in though.
They also used Darren's office set in the 2nd season episode, "My Poor Master, the Civilian". As well as a couple other times too if I'm not mistaken.
CAJeannieFan57 06-09-2007, 11:38 AM If anyone's interested, we have Carpet's old page comparing IDOJ to Bewitched, on our website. We were able to resurrect and reconstruct it, for your reading pleasure.
treky 06-11-2007, 01:02 AM also, on a couple of the IDOJ episodes, in outdoor shots, you can see the Stevens house in the background.
Scoobiedoo30 06-11-2007, 01:27 AM thanks for the website
Subspace 06-16-2007, 11:59 PM I believe the exterior/neighborhood shots were also very similar/identical. Same Screen Gems set after all.
catlover79 06-17-2007, 12:04 AM Personally, I'd love to live in Jeannie's bottle. It looked so soft and cozy...all those pillows...I sure wouldn't mind staying there!!
