I got this photo out of In Style Weddings magazine. Here is what the caption reads(Can't see it in the scan)

While a Junior at John Burroughs High School in Burbank, Calif., he started spending so much time with classmate Cheryl Alley that his parents barred him from taking her out more than twice a week. So Ron told his parents that he had joined the Cross Country team and began jogging over to her house every morning.
They married on June 7, 1975.(30 years ago!)Donnie, Anson and Tom were all ushers. Both Ron and Cheryl were 21 years old.
Quote: "Thirty years and 4 children later, it's clear that their Happy Days had just begun."

Congrats Ron and Cheryl!

They're an adorable couple. It's refreshing to see someone as successful as Ron Howard not go "all Hollywood" and dump their spouse for a trophy wife.

So many movie stars do that....Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Carson, Sylvester Stallone, Kevin Coster, to name just a few...they dumped their non-Hollywood wives and mothers of their children.

I agree. All those people that "go Hollywood" make me mad.

I remember when he got married. I was ten years old. I am so proud of the two of them because it is proof that real marriages last, even in Hollywood. All this damn talk about Brad & Jen sickens me because they make it seem like "Oh, they were so in love, they are the perfect couple!" (Puke!!) Ron and Cheryl are a real couple who really know the meaning of marriage. NOW, IF RON AND CHERYL WERE TO BREAK UP, THEN THAT'S REALLY A HEADLINE!!!!

This reminds me of my parents' wedding album. They were married in 1974, so the men also wore those sad, ruffly tuxes.

Yes, Ron and Cheryl could teach a lot of people in Hollywood about the true meaning of marriage. Now they are new grandparents. What a wonderful family...

Right on target! 32 years together, three adult children and a grandson. After all this, Ron still continues to direct movies and Cheryl still continues to go on camera in those movies, directed by her husband. Perhaps we'll see pictures of Ron and Cheryl with their grandson before too long.

Wow, I didn't know Anson William's hair was long then. I thought he didn't let his hair grow until S5 when Potsie parted his hair differently. But I guess he just made his hair look short for the first 4 seasons of HD.

He probably just grew it out during the summer hiatus and had it cut short again when filming resumed.

Could be. Was so shocked to see his hair longer in that pic. Especially when it was before S3 when the familiar HD theme song started being used for the first time. Ron Howard's hair was also a bit longer when I saw him on the outtakes of American Graffiti coz I've seen those takes on that DVD's special feature.

Nice to see these! I love the fact that Cheryl originally came from my neck of the woods and that they occasionally come out here to visit family (no, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting them). But Ron was gracious enough to do a promo for the local CBS station while down here a few years back :)
