View Full Version : What's the best way to get rid of a zit?

I usually don't ask weird questions like this on here, but I'm almost desparate here! I've had this zit on my chin for like WEEKS or more and it will NOT go away. I've been washing my face every day and I even bought some Clearisil vanishing acne cream. That made it somewhat smaller, but it did NOT make it go away.

I don't understand why it just will not go away. I also very rarely get zits at all and if I do it goes away within a few days, but it never stayed this long. I'm starting to think this zit really likes me because I just can't get rid of it. Maybe it's something else that's not a zit? I don't know.

i think just letting it naturally fade would help. i never bother trying to get rid of them.

It's possible it could be a small cyst. I've had zits that stayed forever and it turned out they were small sebaceous cysts. Not a lot you can do about them other than see a dermatologist. Usually if you leave them alone, they'll reduce in size slightly and just sit under the skin - noticable to you, but not really anyone else.

Has it drained at all? Bled or crusted over?

Go to the dermatologist and have them shoot it with that stuff, cortosomething. My aunts a dermatologist so I never have any of them. If I get one, I go in, she shoots it and its gone.

Benzoyl Peroxide is better than Clearasil (which is salicylic acid).

But yeah, picking just makes it scar...though that hasn't stopped me any. And I scar really really easy.

Yeah, Clearasil sucks. None of that stuff ever worked for me. I'm on some prescription stuff now which really helped.

It is important to know though if its forming a crust, or will bleed and its not going away. I thought I had a zit like that 4 years ago and it turned out to be basal cell cancer (don't panic - nothing bad and very common). That's just why I was curious.

Otherwise, some take a while to go away. Especially if it bugs you and you're always touching or playing with it - you might not even realize you're doing that.

I found that a good remedy for zits is toothpaste. Put a dab of toothpaste on the little kritter, and leave on over night. It drys out the zit and it should just fall off.

Try Aloe Vera plant juice or lemon juice on your face,My friend recommended
to me when we were in high school and I had acne. Both work pretty good.
Use either one overnight before you go to bed.
