I love TBS for sticking with this show but I wonder.... when will they drop it. It scares me to think they will just drop in one day and it will be gone for good.
Do you think it will end up some where else. It gets so little respect and I can't think of any other cable network that would show it.
What do you think?

I am in the process of making DVD's of all the episodes of "Mama's Family", and there's a handful of episodes that the last time around the cable box decided to act up during. So I need to record them when the show starts over from the first episode again on May 30th. Yahoo!'s television listings only go up to May 25th right now though...so I'm so nervous, that now I only have just a few episodes to go before my DVD's will be done, that when they post May 30th I won't see "Mama" there. Let me shut up, and not jinx myself, I just have to pray that they'll show the episodes over again from the beginning at least one more time on May 30th.

Hopefully if TBS ever drops it, it will show up on Nick@Nite or TVLand. I tihnk it would fit well on TVLand. :)

Oh, TBS will definitely be airing MF. They've been doing it since the 90's. Despite being in a crappy timeslot, it's held up fairly well...I mean, they switched timeslots in April of 2003. Saved By the Bell has been in the 6am Central slot here ever since I was in junior high (I started in 1997).

Hopefully if TBS ever drops it, it will show up on Nick@Nite or TVLand. I tihnk it would fit well on TVLand. :)

ACK! NO! N@N and TVL would both give MF crappy treatment...those stupid banners across the bottom of the page, squash the closing credits, etc....*shudder*

I taped all of the MF epidodes in 1997 on TBS when it was aired between 6-7 PM . I have all of them except the Gert episode. I still don't understand what the exclusion of that episode is all about!

Yeah I'm no fan of the way nick at nite and tv land treat shows, but it would be better to have it there then no where.
I fear that once TBS drops it it will sort of dissapear. I have many most episodes on tape, and I am hopeful it will be on DVD one day, but I want it on somewhere so new/young people can be exposed to it.
It would be so sad if it was forgotten. There seem to be so many great shows that were popular in their day but just never (or rarely) get rerun anymore. Some that come to mind (not that I am a fan of all these shows, but they all were popular in their day): Barney Miller, Gimme a Break, Facts of Life, One Day at a time, Alice, Newhart, Perfect Strangers. All these shows are forgotten by the cable networks it seems.

Maybe it wouldn't be so bad as you think. I would love to see a different stations editing compared to TBS. They might show the original opening credits for seasons 1 and 2.

That's true. I remember when M*A*S*H* was on Hallmark and on one of our local channels. Well, the scenes that were edited out for time on one channel I would see on the other channel(and they in turn would edit out scenes that I would then see on the first channel), so it kind of worked itself out.

Maybe they would edit out different scenes on Mama's Family and then we could splice them together to get more of the episode as it was originally run.;)

I knew that there were different openings when seasons 1 and 2 originally aired, but I totally forgot how they went. It's been such a long time.

But I honestly don't care if it stays on TBS or goes to another network, I just want the episodes uncut on DVD :) I hope Warner Bros. really gets their butts in gear with this.

Mama's Family, which is expiring from TBS after August 31, has NOT been renewed by TBS, so it will be off the network come Sept. 1. More details on tomorrow's blog (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog).

Sure, they are eager to take away a show that's funny. They renewed Saved By The Bell, which is utter crap. It started on TBS in 1992 (that's 14 years). Who needs that show? Now it will air 6 times per day in June, 2006. They should start calling TBS "Saved By The BS (Bull S---t). I'm so mad. TBS just hates classics like everyone else.

They will probably expand SBTB from 6AM-9AM in the Fall and also noon.

They are adding The King of Queens soon. That's not real funny. Seinfeld, Raymond, Cosby, Drew Carey, and some movies are the only funny shows on TBS.

What I don't understand is why they won't renew Mamas Family, but they renew Saved by the Bell. Its been on for 14 years they are going to air six times a day, and the whole series is out on dvd already. Why can't they renew Mamas Family I would definatley rather watch Mama than Saved By The Bell its getting old.

This is a surprise, but I guess it had to go sometime. My only worry is it will become a sitcom that dissapears for a long time, since no other channel airs it and it's not in syndication anywhere else.

That's a shame. It was part of my morning ritual before school. I'd like to see what fills the slot. Another hour of Saved By the Bell? Ugh.

Thankfully, I've recorded the entire series already. Just wish I did it in higher quality format.

Maybe another network will pick it up, TV Land would be great.

Stop all the "Saved by the Bell" hating.

I like "Mama's Family" too, but there's no denying that SBTB was and CONTINUES to be the bigger hit. In fact, I think SBTB is too big for TBS. It deserves to be on N@N with weekly marathons, or even back on primetime thursdays on NBC.
