says Melody's dad. Yet another cringe-inducing quote from UM! Because I'm sure Melody would NEVER go anywhere without her hot rollers! Lord.

View Full Version : "Girl things like...rollers and hair dryers..." nohwheregirl 05-12-2005, 01:20 PM says Melody's dad. Yet another cringe-inducing quote from UM! Because I'm sure Melody would NEVER go anywhere without her hot rollers! Lord. toddjharp 05-12-2005, 01:41 PM I live in Texas, and often that is true of Texas girls. However that statement he made borders on sexist. nohwheregirl 05-12-2005, 03:03 PM Oh, I understand Texas hair. I was born and raised in Texas (and bleed burnt orange  ). Still, clothes and rollers and hairdryers as as evidence that she didn't want to run away with her fugitive boyfriend? Not so much. CrushedVelvet 05-12-2005, 04:24 PM I agree nowheregirl...like you cant stop in a Wal-Mart to pick up "girl things". I know if I was on the run having just broke my lover out of prison my top priority would be my Caboodle, pink spongie rollers, and Bonne Belle lip gloss. (rolling eyes) heehee nohwheregirl 05-12-2005, 04:42 PM Caboodle, pink spongie rollers, and Bonne Belle lip gloss Tee-hee!! jeeps 05-13-2005, 11:57 AM I agree nowheregirl...like you cant stop in a Wal-Mart to pick up "girl things". Because I'm sure Melody would NEVER go anywhere without her hot rollers! Lord. That quote epitomized how bad he just buried his head in the sand about her evident culpability in staying with then helping her boyfriend escape prison! Let's see how deep the dad's head was buried: 1. Boyfriend commits crime soon after Melody starts seeing him, gets sentenced to prison but Melody refuses to dump him- yet this is NOT her fault. 2. Boyfriend makes collect calls from prison and 'forces' Melody to schedule her time around collect calls and, despite the fact the family keeps changing the number he 'somehow' finds out about the new phone numbers! It evidently never occurs to her (or her family) that she can end those calls at ANY time by shouting 'NO!' when the Operator/ computer asks whether she accepts the calls/charges! So, that's NOT her fault and not something she could have possibly done anything to stop. 3. Her boyfriend calls her from prison with the escape plan but, rather than alert the authorities and get his prison sentence extended and phone privilages ended, she instead pursuades a friend to drive her to the prison at the appointed time then ditches the friend- yet none of this could possibly be Melody's fault! I think it's entirely possible that Melody was someone capable of persuading her family and friends that NONE of this was her fault because that's what they wanted to believe rather than have to accept the sadder truth that the reason she stayed with a bad news boyfriend was because she LIKED him and was secretly bad news herself . However; she wanted everyone among her family and friends to believe otherwise so she'd keep reaping the bounty of of their pity and them believing her to be virtuous and wouldn't have to be held accountable for her rotten choices! Yet, despite the interviews of some prison officials supporting her family's claims(and, evidently, the UM producers handwringly accepting those claims without considering any logic just familial wishful thinking) , it would seem the other authorities did NOT believe her innocence or helplessness when they caught up to Melody and her boyfriend and sentenced them! :p toddjharp 05-15-2005, 09:53 PM Oh, I understand Texas hair.
