As an experienced long ,long married woman what I want and have is a guy with a great sense of fun/humor. A good father. A responsible provider for his family.
Faithful and trustworthy. It took time for him to grow up(around 35) but he has been a wonderful husband for the last 20 or so years! :happyface I am a lucky woman!

What are your feelings about a guy who's ordinarily real nice, but sometimes says stupid, offending things just because he is not thinking at the time?

I've had that problem for years, and I often do it in front of girls. I always wonder what they think about it.

MsOrange

usually, not saying this is in your case, this is just a general statement... I think they still have some growing up to do

I do the same thing around guys. I guess it depends on how offensive it is. Depending on your age, most girls want a guy who is funny, dependable, has goals, and who is not a commitment phobe. Also no cheaters! There is nothing worse than a man who cheats.

not at all--i would however consider a commitment phobe someone who after 3 years doesn't even want to TALK about marriage... i've got a friend in this situation, it's not cool

We don't want the world on your shoulders, we don't expect you to be perfect, we don't want you to hang the moon for us. Just treat us like human beings, make us laugh, have compassion, don't be afraid to be yourself. When you're with your friends and we happen to be with you, don't start in on the "guy talk." Save the guy talk for your friends, not us. Don't think you have to be "cool" with us, either. Like I said, just be yourself.

It depends on what you've said. I've been in the same situation, wound up really embarassing myself and then I've wondered what the guy was thinking, too. Sometimes it just happens. But I think we (men and women) should put ourselves in the other person's shoes. If you're talking about another woman in front of a girl you happen to have a crush on or something, that might be the girl uncomfortable.

"Hmmm, would I want to hear something like what I'm about to say? Would it offend me?"

lol...I'm not really you're typical woman, but what the heck.

Someone intelligent! I have a low tolerance for the ignorant and just plain idiotic. You don't have to be all book smart, but dang...have some common sense and a knowledge of what's going on in the world.

Someone with more ambition than me.

Someone who likes kids and would love to be a dad.

No criminal records, please.

GOOD HYGIENE. NO SMOKING. I mean, I really can't stand smoke. I wouldn't let you come near my house or my car with a cigarette.

Not a partier. I don't like clubs and parties and being social. If you don't like to stay home more often than not, then look elsewhere.

Knows how to save some money, yet isn't a total cheapskate. I like to shop and the last thing I want to hear is that old Ricky Ricardo schtick about me buying something. :p

NOT OBSESSED WITH SEX. Seriously, I don't like it. That should have been number one. :o

Not a slob.

Has a great sense of humor. I like to laugh.

Can put up with the fact that I get depressed and jump to conclusions and misinterpret things and that I'm an arguier.

Hmm...looks like I shall die alone. :(

Never use questionable material in front of someone you don't know. You never know what someone will find offensive.

* Unless its teasing. All friends make fun of eachother and such, but I mean like mean spirited humor, meant to be funny to the ones listening, but in actuality its just cruel. Kinda like school when people picked on eachother. They did it to make themselves look 'cool'. Yah, thats what I meant.

Like I said before, I'm not really a typical female and can't speak for them all, but here is something that I persoanlly HATE. Abhor. Despise.

Today I go out to get the mail. The mailbox is at the end of the driveway and our driveway is rather long, so it's a walk. My house sits 2 houses away from a corner where there's a stop sign. Well, as I'm walking toward the mailbox, I see this old ratty pickup stop at the corner and just sit there, despite the fact that no one is coming. I think it's odd, but I go on about my business. I get to the box, get the mail out and that's when the truck turn toward my house. As I'm walking back toward the house, the dude drives by and honks at me. I just keep walking and ignore the SOB. Now, all this loser could see from where he was was that I was a woman with boobs, so I just know he was honking because I have a nice chest. THAT PISSES ME OFF. I would have rather beaten the **** out of that shallow ***** than look at him. My mom acted like I should be flattered, but I'm not. So word to the wise, no honking, wolf whistling, obnoxious noises...it's shallow and degrading. You don't see me checking out the size of that buldge in your pants, do ya?? pissed:

It's a lot like drinking martinis (I was going to say peanuts, but its not quite like that)!

You have your first one, and its not that great, but you liked the feeling it gave you and you remember it! The second one tastes a bit better and the glow is better from it. By the third one you're hooked!! And once you find the flavour love, you want one every night!

Not to worry - there's no rush - it'll happen when the time is right! ;) And you sound like you're going to be a great catch - you're intelligent, open minded, funny and just the fact you posted this thread shows females that you're actually interested in the wants and needs of females - THAT says it all Max!! ;) :bighug:

Hey - aren't you going to be a newlywed in the not too distant future???

You just wait!!! You gonna be a dirty girl too!

I'm gonna tell the world, you're a dirty little girl
Someone grab that bitch by the ears
Rub her down scrub her back
And turn her inside out
`Cause I bet she hasn't had a bath in years

Here's my own belief about all the dirty girls
That you have to clean the oyster to find the pearl
And like rags that belong to you I belong to myself
So don't show up around here till your social worker's helped

Lyrics by Bernie Taupin, music by Elton John
