My husband and I were involved in an auto accident this weekend. Tonight we were talking about how much worse it could have been if we had a baby in the back seat. Then I recalled a segment on UM...

A couple had a newborn and it was the first day of the woman returning to work. She picked the child up from daycare and while on the NY Expressway, a large semi rammed her car. Her child was killed instantly and the trucker never stopped.

Does anyone recall an update on this? I had forgotten all about this story until this weekend. It makes me sick to my stomach that someone could do this and just drive away. I have the same feeling for the motorcycle driver who lost his legs because of a trucker.

I'm not sure if justice will catch up with them here but I firmly believe there's a special place in hell just for them.

Are you sure this was on UM? If so, do you remember what season the segment was from?

I know that UM aired a similar case in 1999. It involved some young Asian girls who were killed by a truck on an Arizona freeway, and the trucker just kept going and got away. The tragedy happened during the late 1990s (probably in 1998).

Hi Kane,

I am almost positive that it was an UM segment. The only thing though is that it could have been from the early years.

Now that I'm thinking about it more I think it was a "special alert" type of viewing. There was a partial description of the truck and the police believed there was extensive damage to the front.

I'll keep thinking for more clues.

Thanks for replying.

The only one I remember that remotely sounds like it was one of newer ones about road rage. This couple was driving with their two small children. I don't remember many details as I usually can't bear to watch it but shots were fired by the other driver striking their little boy and killing him. He was holding his teddy bear up, maybe as protection, and the bullet went through the teddy bear striking the baby. A heartbreaking case. :(
