I was wondering if Esther started out as a singer first before she became a television/film actress.

I saw an old record album of gospel songs recorded by her on Ebay once. It looked like it could've been from the late 50's or 60's.

Did they ever have her sing on Good Times? I know she sang briefly in the movie "Rosewood", but I'm sure if it was really her or if it was somebody else dubbed in.

There was no singing in Esther Rolle's Background, she got into acting at the age of 27
