my top 10 shows of the season:

1. Desperate Housewives. I was dreading that "appointment television" was finished for me since pretty much all the shows I lived for week to week have ended in the past few years (like Buffy, Sex And The City, Ally McBeal, Friends), but I started watching this. The first two weeks it was take it-or-leave it for me, but then around the time Mama Solis came into the picture, it became the it show for me.

2. South Park. Belongs so high just because Trey and Matt actually know the supreme higher goddess known as Wing, lol. Started off very week after how great seasons 7 and 8 were, but picked up quickly thanks to Wing and Terri Schiavo. If only Mary Kay and Vili married a month earlier (the first half of season 9 ended in mid-April, second half in the fall), we might've gotten a great episode with Mrs. Garrison (who had a sex change at the beginning of the season) and Butters, lol.

3. Lost. I have missed most of the episodes, but I plan to get the DVD in September. I know this is a fantastic show, I just don't have the patience to watch it week-to-week, on DVD I know this is going to rule.

4. Grey's Anatomy. Another great freshman hit for ABC. I have never been too wild about ER or doctor shows in general, but I feel that this show has enough soap, drama and comedy, as well as a top-notch cast, that it definately keeps me from changing the station after Housewives goes off.

5. Arrested Development. The best rookie show of 2003 did not let us down in it's second season.

6. Living With Fran. I can't believe I like a Fran Drescher series, but I do. I never was too wild about The Nanny, but I find this show very funny. Considering all of the pain Fran's gone through in her life, from surviving cancer to being raped in her home, it is great to see her nearing 50 and in the best shape and spirits of her life. Her boyfriend is hot too, and both of her kids are hilarious.

7. Family Guy. It's back!!!! MacFarlane is a comic goldmine and it's great to get the show back.

8. The Simpsons. Another decent season. A far cry from seasons 3-8, but quite a few episodes show Groening in top form again. However, probably the weakest Treehouse ever.

9. Charmed. What was expected to be the last season has been so-so at best. A hodgepodge of great episodes and crappy episodes with nothing in between. Plenty of stuntcasting this season, some great (Charisma Carpenter as The Seer, Kerr Smith as Agent Brody) and some ungodly unwatchable (Nick Lachey as a love interest for Phoebe), and even the one-off return of an old favorite whose gone onto great success on another tv show (Julian McMahon). The best of the season ranks with the best of the Rose McGowan episodes (IMO, nothing compares to the Shannen Doherty episodes), but the worst episodes make season 5 look not so bad.

10. Reba. A funny sitcom has had a decent year.

Other shows I've watched, but don't quite like enough to put in the top 10: Joey, What I Like About You, One Tree Hill, American Dad

shows I'm gonna check out on DVD because it's impossible to enjoy in reruns unless you watch them in order: Veronica Mars

I didn't get a chance to watch Lost much either because of Smallville, but I will be getting the DVD of that.

Same for Veronica Mars, I don't get UPN, so I gotta get the DVDs

Following BuffySlayer79's model....

10. Law & Order: Trial By Jury - Having just become a L&O fan as a whole, I came to enjoy TBJ the best. Particularly because it starred Bebe Neuwirth, my favorite actress. I'm sad that it has been cancelled, but at least it doesn't leave anything unanswered. Thats what I appreciate about the L&O series, you can watch week after week, year after year, and if it was just pulled away, you'd never really notice. I would've liked more, but I'll take what they've given.

9. Will & Grace - After a less than spectacular 6th season, season 7 of W&G was among the best, IMO. The last few episodes in particular have been top notch. And "Stanley, you're alive?!" was at the same time corny and shocking. And definitely something that won't have me missing the Season 8 premiere.

8. The Apprentice - I used to despise this series, but the "Book Smarts vs. Street Smarts" idea sucked me in. I was disappointed with the finale, but nonetheless, Im hoping to catch up with Season 1 (and someday 2) on DVD.

7. Joey - Although not a favorite with everyone, this show is funny in its own right, and a worthy spinoff of Friends. The latter episodes of the season pulled LeBlanc out of the spotlight a bit, hopefully foreshadowing a more ensemble approach for season 2.

6. Lost - I wasn't particularly thrilled in the beginning, then I zoned out, but around a month or two ago I got back into the show and haven't missed a minute since. And with that breathtaking season finale, I'm kicking myself for ever turning away.

5. Scrubs - The fourth season of this show is arguably its best. My personal favorite episode of the series, "My Life in Four Cameras", aired this season, along with many other greats.

4. Veronica Mars - A perfect series, the first of which ever to air on UPN. Kristen Bell plays the lead role, and looks hot while doing it. One of the most interesting season long storylines I've ever seen makes this a perfect 10.

3. Boston Legal - Hilariously perfect. James Spader and William Shatner make one of TV's greatest duos, with two wonderfully entertaining characters. Intriguing storylines that bring you back week after week makes this one of my favorite series.... and the episodes aren't even connected for the most part!

2. Desperate Housewives - The breakout hit of the season deserves all the publicity it gets. Smart and entertaining, I'm hoping the mystery that sucked me in for the first 23 episodes can sustain itself for years to come.

1. Arrested Development - The sophomore season of television's funniest current comedy was leaps and bounds ahead of the already hysterical freshmen year. Buster loosing his hand, George Sr. out of jail, the entire episode "Good Grief", the list goes on and on. It simply doesn't get any funnier than this.

Let's see, what did I watch this season.

WB:
Gilmore Girls (still going strong one of the best written shows on the tube)
Smallville (they need more episodes with Krypto next season!)
Everwood (such a good show. I wish more people watched it)

UPN:
Star Trek Enterprise (what kind of loyal trekker would i be if I didn't watch this mess go down in flames?)
Veronica Mars (outstanding first season! I was hooked from the pilot episode)

NBC:
Joey (say what you want, I thought the show was funny)
The Office (Brit version still better, but this version was still funny)
Scrubs (tried to catch as many eps as I could)

FOX:
Arrested Development (the best live action sitcom on TV right now)
Simpsons (are they on the 20th season now?)
Family Guy (so nice to have Peter and the crew back)
American Dad (funny but needs work)

Sci Fi:
Battlestar Galactica (everyone of those dolts involved with Enterprise should be forced to watch this show - this is how a great sci-fi series should be!)

Discovery
American Chopper (the only "reality show" I watch.)

Cartoon Network
Robot Chicken (fast funny and twisted animation. excellent)
The Venture Brothers (great stuff.)
