George was a completely different person around these two characters. George say every insult in the book to Tom but never really insulted Archie. He called Archie Honkey but never made fun of his weight like he did Tom's weight. And we all know that Archie was Heavier than Tom-LOL George and Archie had more friendly moments it seemed than him and Tom. And Tom was part of the Family-LOL

That's it in a nutshell. Tom was white and tall. If I remember right the guy who played Tom on All in the Family was about the same size as George and Louise so Franklin Cover was a better choice for the role because of the height difference.
