do you really care about what your lawn looks like? do you water your lawn? do you cut your grass yourself?

Yes, I take a lot of pride in what my yard looks like. We water and fertilize the lawn. I can't stand driving by homes where the yard is unkept, weeds growing everywhere. It makes the whole street look trashy imo.

Yeah. We've got just under an acre so its a nightmare to mow ourselves (didn't want to go the rider mower route) so we hire landscapers each year. They come in and it only takes a crew of 4 about 15 minutes to do so its a huge help. It really looks gorgeous when its healthy. Unfortunately we missed a year two years ago and last year it was horrible. We got infested with grubs and they ate patches out of it. We had it professionally treated and fertilized and it's come back very nice so far.
I get stuck with the gardens and I'm not the best gardener unfortunately.
A few years ago I plant $300 worth of exotic bulbs and the damn squirrels and rabbits dug up almost every one of them. I've given up now.

I have an average-sized yard...Takes 1 to 1.5 hours to mow it, and maybe 2 to 3 bags of grass clippings once I'm through. I'm not one of those neat freaks, but yes I take care of the yard...I weedwhack too and spray a weedkiller around the yard when I start to see weeds sprouting. I only moved into my place 1.5 years ago, so last spring/summer was the first spring/summer I lived here...the previous neighbors didn't do anything about the weeds, so we had to do quite a bit of weedkilling. They also didn't get the yard re-leveled (it's pretty bumpy, making it difficult to mow in certain spots), so we're getting it done this summer. In the spring, I don't bring out the sprinkler...I wait til the weather is warmer to do so...spring here produces a lot of rain, so why bring out the sprinkler... :)

What do you do with the grass clippings? Doesn't you mower mulch?

I care what my lawn looks like, which at the present time is not very good. It was in bad shape when I took over and I am battling a varitey of weeds that are currently kicking my ass. I am going to throw even more chemicals at them, but the weather has been so crappy I can't do it yet.

There's a place near me that takes grass clippings, so when I'm done I can take my bags over there and dump the clippings. But I don't even do it - there's a neighbor on my street that does that for us. :)

Our city takes all yard waste, except grass clippings. I have heard it is best to just cut them and keep them on the lawn, but a lot of people don't like to do that. Seems the older people expecially want to get rid of them.

Luckily we have composters that are picked up an emptied once every two weeks. Actually our landscapers do mulch, so we don't have to worry about that but I do put all other lawn and organic debris in our composter - including all food waste - its great - they take everything. We only have one or two bags of actual garbage a month because of the great composting/recycling program we have in our neighbourhood.

As for watering, I'll only do it every other Wednesday in around late July or August depending on how much rain we've had. If you fertilize and weed well, the lawn can handle droughts better too.

I mow, weed, fertilize, dont bother with watering (who needs to - haven't had a week without rain yet), and just mulch the clippings.

my lawn STILL looks like crap because the dog doesn't care about it nearly as much as I do, also the yard weasels and neighborhood punks help him tear it up.

Yeah, I'm new to it all...Not really new anymore, though. My parents did it all when I was growing up, so I never paid attention to how they took care of the lawn. I suppose that would save me the time and backpain of dumping the clippings into a bag. :lol:

I've found the best thing to do is let my dog poop on it, let rest for 2-365 days, then mow over it.

Yeah, I care what it looks like. However, I don't do anything to it; that's dad's department.

However, I HATE/DESPISE it when people water their damn lawns in a drought. LET IT GO DORMANT. It's not dead. pissed:

Put them out with the trash. A call to the garbage man, and they'll take the yard waste.

Though we mostly just do that with leaves in the fall.

I mow the lawns and I don't have a lot to do, as our yards don't have a lot of grass to begin with. We used to put the grass clippings on this big hill we have in our back yard for years. It wasn't until last year when the city started taking grass clippings and yard waste so I put them in a big trash can or two.

the gardners do that for us? i wouldnt even know how to use a lawn mower.
