The only time I think was when Greg graduated high school (that was obvious), so that was obvious. However, I can never remember a time where the grades of each Brady kid ever was mentioned. Just for fun, what grades do you think they were in? At what time? When it first premiered.

Greg- 9th grade
Marcia- 8th grade
Peter and Jan- 7th grade
Bobby and Cindy- 2nd grade

It varied. Don't even try to make sense of it. Marcia and Greg seemed to be a year apart in "The Babysitters" ("I'm 14!" "I'm 13!"). Greg started high school in the second season, but Marcia didn't start until the fourth season. Also, in "My Fair Opponent", the episode where Marcia makes over Molly, it is clear she is graduating from junior high. This is at the end of the third season. At the beginning of the fourth season, Marcia hates high school in "Today I Am a Freshman". But Greg is a senior in season 5. My guess is that in the Brady's city, high school covered grades 10-12, and junior high school was 7-9 (this was typical in the 70s). On the other hand, why did Greg go to high school for seasons 2-5? Maybe 9th grade moved to the junior high beginning with the third season. Also, in "Quarterback Sneak" (season 5), Peter says that he's not going to Westdale until the next year, so he must be in 9th grade (or 8th, depending on which junior high school theory you subscribe to).

It didn't make sense. It seemed like the older ones were in junior high or high school too long.

...
Greg- 9th grade
Marcia- 8th grade
Peter and Jan- 7th grade
Bobby and Cindy- 2nd grade

Just thought I'd add to the confusion a bit...

In "My Sister's Shadow", while in Mike's den, Carol explains to Jan that Marcia should have more to show for herself because she (Marcia) is...are you ready....THREE years older than Jan!!

I don't think THAT age difference held up throughout the series!

Right, because when Marcia was trying to get her driver's license she said to Jan, "You're going to be getting YOUR license soon too"...so Jan had to be more than 13!

Can't remember the episode name. Where Peter wanted to get back at his one teacher, so Greg and Marcia, decided to help and Jan came in and said what is going on and they told her and she said I won't have him until next year. Greg said I had in 2 years ago and Marcia said she had him last year

So that means Peter was a grade ahead of Jan.

So that must have ment Greg was 2 years older than Peter.

Wonder why they made Bobby and Cindy so much younger then Greg, Marcia, Peter and Jan?

In the episode Where Bobby enters a frog jumping contest, Greg asks Bobby how old he was and he says 11 and Greg says to a girl when they walk past Bobby and his frog, kids are so immature at that age not me I am 17, so that meant Greg was 6 years older than Bobby. That is when Bobby tells on Greg and he gets grounded and can't drive, then Greg tells his parents lets go by excat words, to try and get out of more grounding when he took his sick friends car to get concert tickets.

So if Greg was in 9th grade, that would make Bobby in 3rd grade, and in 6th grade when Greg Graduated.

I've heard that a couple times but have never heard dates confirming it. I've also read that her birthday is Aug. 1961 and his is Dec. 1960 which of course makes him older. In Barry's book she is quoted as saying that she was 9 and Mike was 8 when they "got married," but on the home videos DVD she says she was glad to have Robbie Rist join the cast so she wouldn't be the youngest. so confusing!

BTW, in the Christmas episode Cindy says something about Santa reading 1st grade writing. No mention of the other kids' grades, though.

Okay, I think this might be the rundown on their ages :

boys (from 1st to 5th season):

greg - 14,15,16,17,18
peter - 11,12,13,14,15
bobby - 8,9,10,11,12

*pretty positive about the boys' ages!!! They were all 3 years apart. I have proof of the their ages (by siting specific episodes).

girls (from 1st to 5th season):

marcia - 13,14,15,16,17

not sure about jan and cindy at all

Jan - season 2 (Will the real Jan Brady please standup) - Jan said she was 12.
And in season 3 in Her Sister's Shadow - she supposed to be 3 years younger than Marcia, so I'm confused.

Cindy - season 1 (Christmas episode) - she said she was 6. No matter how old Jan was, Cindy was way off.

In real life, within the boy-girl pairs, peter-jan had the smallest age gap - only 6 months apart. Greg-Marcia about 2 years and Bobby-Cindy about 8 months.

Marcia was only 12 in the first season.

In the second season, "The Babysitters", Marcia says she is 13.

I think the show was not consistent with the ages because Marcia is supposed to be 1 year younger than Greg (mentioned in "Vote for Brady"). So, in the 3rd season, Greg was 16, so Marcia should be 15, so how could she be 13 in the 2nd season? She should have been 14 in 2nd season. Or maybe she supposed to turn 14 in the middle of the 2nd season.

Anyway, I think the show was not consistent with the girls' ages, but they were very consistent with the boys' ages, IMHO.

But Greg got his room in the attic in the 4th season....when he wanted to move out with a friend his parents said, "Wait til you're in college next year." Next year he was only a senior.

I think the show was not consistent with the ages because Marcia is supposed to be 1 year younger than Greg (mentioned in "Vote for Brady"). So, in the 3rd season, Greg was 16, so Marcia should be 15, so how could she be 13 in the 2nd season?

She says so in "The Babysitters", during the second season. Greg says, "I'm 14!" and Marcia says, "I'm 13!" when Carol and Mike think they're too young to watch the younger kids. Going by these quotes (one of the very few times any actual age is mentioned), Greg would be 15 in the third season, not 16.

Another mention of their age....in about the 7th episode of the second season, when Greg wanted to start saving for a car, he said he was "right around the corner from 15".

In "Dough Re Mi", Greg said to Carol, "Mom, I'm 16, when are you going to stop worrying about me?" and Carol said "When you're 60!" I taped this episode so I could not go wrong. So, then, I was wrong about the show being consistent with the boys' age. But I think Peter's age was still the most consistent.
