Assuming the show is done (which, I know, is not a done deal just yet), I'd feel better if I knew I could get some closure. Either in the form of a real concluding episode, a 2 hour movie or even a novel. I bet if Jonathan Prince or one of his screenwriters wrote a novel on the Pryor and Walker families from mid-1966 and spanning the next several years, many people would buy it. I certainly would, and while I'd rather see AD on television for many more years, I would be satisfied with a novel that could at least close up all the story lines.

They already have a book series, even if the TV series is cancelled, there's no reason they couldn't keep it going through the books. As they are now, the books are really short and don't have that many plot lines, but there's no reason they couldn't expand them. They could do it as a series of books, or even one really long book. Roots covered almost 50 years. There's no reason an American Dreams book couldn't cover 10. That would be awsome.

And where is this book series? Where can I find it? This is the first I have heard of any of this? Do you have a link?

Go to amazon.com and click on books, then type in American Dreams. There are like 4 or 5 books.

Books:

- "End of Summer" by Liz Tigelaar

- "Dance With Me" by Emily Oz

- "Star Maps" by Liz Tigelaar

- "Count on Me" by Adam Beechen

- "Fair Play" by Deirdre Shaw

You can usually find them in the "Young Adult" or "Teen" section of the bookstores.

Also, Liz Tigelaar and Deirdre Shaw are writers on the show. So you know they'll be good. :)

I've heard a few people mention these books, what exactly are they about? Do they tie in with the show, or just the characters and branch out?

One of the books I read took place during the summer after the first season. It had Meg, Roxanne, and Beth going to California. I think they were going to meet up with JJ. If I read it before the second season, it would have been good, b/c it went along with the story line. But since I saw the second and third seasons, I knew what happened already, and reading it was kind of pointless. So, I would suggest getting a new book, maybe one that takes place during or after the third season. (If it exists) ;)

The first book, to me, was just like the first season. The rest, though follow the same general storyline of the show, but they have extra little plots. :)
