View Full Version : If you went to a place to eat and saw a "fly" in your salad, would you go back to
TVFactFan 04-30-2005, 12:17 AM that place again to eat? A Co-worker of mine went to a place to buy a salad and saw that a Fly was inside of it and took it back so she coukd get a refund. But the dumb part is she RETURNS to the place to buy another salad-lol Anyone besides me would not return to that place again? What sense does it make to continue to eat at a place where you found a insect inside your food?

I would stay away for a month or two but eventually go back
MsOrange 04-30-2005, 12:18 AM depends... what place is it?
Brian Damage 04-30-2005, 12:19 AM That would be the end for me.
Mr. Television 04-30-2005, 12:19 AM I'd probably walk out.
TheHappyBurgerMeister 04-30-2005, 12:22 AM It depends on the place. If it's a place I eat at all the time and this is the first time I see a fly, I'd probably get over it and go back eventually. heck, it's just a FLY- not a human finger! If it's a place I never go to then I won't go back.

Agreed.
dawsongirl 04-30-2005, 01:49 AM eww. I don't think I would. Fly strips people!
*MIBabe03* 04-30-2005, 09:23 AM Nope.
spunkygirl 04-30-2005, 02:20 PM I'd probably go back after awhile. Believe it or not, flies come in restaurants when people come in and out so much, and it's not always easy to detect if they've gotten in food. I know I used to work at a restaurant.

Nice avatar Cathy
And umm.. sure Id probably go back. Not for a while, but I would if I always liked the place.

Thanks. :D
Janice 04-30-2005, 05:22 PM It depends. If I've eaten there before without incident, I'd give it another shot. If it was a roach, I wouldn't go back since that indicates they have a pest problem that they don't control. A fly can end up in any meal, even at home. It's easy to miss.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 04-30-2005, 05:37 PM Sure, why the hell not? I wouldn't even give it back, I'd whimper a little, fling the fly out and eat. If it IS a scumhole, though, I wouldn't go back.

Exactly - they can't always be held responsible - flies are understandable (unless there's a few in there - then I would raise an eyebrow)!!
The cafeteria at work is the same. You'll get the odd bug or even hair (yet they all wear hairnets) in a salad or something, and they'll gladly replace it or give you your money back, but since's it's convenient, I'd always go back. You just give your dinner a good once-over before tying into it that's all!
Hell - no different from eating my mom's cooking as a kid!! We'd go "EEEEEWWWWWW" and she'd say - "Shut up - just more protein for you!!" ;) Also, I've been on many a camping trip where half the time, you were eating beans, with God knows what else that would fly, jump, hop or fall into the pot! You were hungry (or drunk) enough you didn't care!

Yeah - I draw the line at roaches too!! Or maggots! That's definitely crossing the "building up the immune system" line!!
Which reminds me, heard on the news last night some woman was eating a candy bar and after a couple of odd tasting chews, spit it out and found out it was filled with maggots!!! Now THAT'S a lunch loser snack if I ever heard of one!

I'm extremely cautious of chocolate in warm weather. I refrigerate it, and I won't buy it from a vending machine. I know of two stories when someone found maggots in Kit Kit bars, both in the summer.

For sure. In the 60s, my mom worked in a variety store and they would have to throw out chocolate bars that had nuts in them all the time.
Remember those "Hot Nuts" (not going THERE ;) ) roasting/rotating bin things? They held asst'd nuts under warming lights and were in most variety stores. They would have to shut that thing right down in the summer it would be so bad. Worms in nothing flat.
barwars 05-01-2005, 02:50 PM If a fly in your salad is the biggest problem.... its not a problem at all. Especially if the fly is alive.
The restaurant business is disgusting.... snot, spit, blood, skin, hair, ashes, everything. Its gross.
But, you'll experience it everywhere. From McDonalds to the fanciest restaurant in the world.
There are sick people in the world.
....yet I still eat out all the time.
PZelda 05-01-2005, 02:57 PM I'm sorry I ever clicked on this thread. Not that I had much of an appetite to begin with anyway...
