So apparently the show's now cancelled on NBC, but that STILL doesn't mean CANCELLED PERIOD. Do you think we should try to convince Jonathan Prince to talk to another network (say WB, UPN) to pick it up as a midseason replacement? Sometimes, shows last one or a few seasons on one network and then flourish for years on another. JAG is an example of this. It basically died the one season it was on NBC in the '95-'96 season, but the following year, it was picked up as a midseason replacement on CBS, and lasted until 2005. What does everyone think? I know it's a long shot.

I hope another network picks it up, but I don't really know how that type of thing works....

It would be great to see AD return though! :(

:)

I think AD would work well on the WB. If I had my way, I'd get rid of 7th Heaven and replace it with AD (apologies to all the 7th Heaven fans out there).

OMG the producers HAVE to do that...they just can't drop the show like this

Never gonna happen. You just cannot "suggest" something to a writer of a show....LOL. don't you think he has already pitched the show to other networks?

The bottom line is that not enough people watched the show to warrant another season. Yes, we all love this show and know it is the best one on TV. But, only 22,000 signatures on a petition, etc. is nothing compared to millons of people who watched primetime TV.

It is truly sad that we won't see any new episodes of this show. But it is just that...a television show. Fictional characters from a bygone era. It is the era I grew up. I cannot hinge my life on a TV show. I certainly won't be depressed about it, and I won't boycott NBC. I hardly think a couple thousand people not watching their network will put a dent in their ratings.

I am just telling it like it is here or being realistic. I have never been one to be in "la la land".

We don't know that it wasn't pitched. Was it public knowledge that JAG was being picked up as a mid-season for CBS when NBC announced ITS cancellation (I'm actually asking that as a question as well, because this happened 10 years ago, before cyberspace was full of gossip)? I don't recall knowing about JAG coming back until the week before when I read it on TV Guide.

I cannot answer that but I do know there are several cases in the past few seasons of shows jumping networks and it being very well-publicized. Buffy, The Vampire Slayer of course, but also Roswell, Grounded For Life, and The PJs. Now, the last two may not have receieved as much attention as Buffy, The Vampire Slayer did, or even Roswell, but it was no secret another network picked them up.

There is little to no chance that any other network would consider picking up American Dreams. I would ask everyone not to get their hopes up. As I have mentioned before, the best we can hope for now is the release of the last two seasons on DVD, along with the alternate ending.

I would love to see AD on any channel. I don't care where or when but I don't know if any station will pick it up. It would be nice though. :)

I've never even heard of UPN before this board, what shows are on it?

UPN is a television station which isn't available all over the country just yet. It's home to a lot of comedies, most of which aren't big hits. They also have America's Next Top Model, a show hosted by Tyra Banks. This year Veronica Mars premiered and that is probably it's most critically acclaimed or show for that matter on the network. If you had UPN I'd definitely recomend it. -Brian
