When Three's Company ran prime time, and in reruns during the early 80's, when it showed the ropers, it would have Mr Roper in bed, reading a book I think, When Mrs Roper got into bed, he acted like he was asleep, Does anybody remember that open, tv land uses the same one open theme in the first few seasons. If you notice cheers and taxi mostly have the short theme in reruns these days, I can't believe our local affaliates need that much commercial time. Does anybody remember the three's intro i am talking about

One day tv land and the other networks that run nothing but reruns are going to find that keeping viewers is a problem since all the tv shows are coming out on dvd now and people are getting tired of 5 minutes of show and 5 minutes of commercial one day it will be 5 minutes of show and 7 minutes of commercial,

for instance i used to watch spike tv and only star trek tng as thats the only show they played that i liked well there was also baywatch but they dropped that show, but i got so sick of spike tv,s 5 minutes of tng and 5 minutes of commercial i went and bought the star trek dvd sets now i have them all and i dont watch spike anymore.

And by the way i recorded star trek tng reruns on fox back in 1991 and I got 49 minuts of star trek and 11 of commercial, on spike today if i recorded it id get 20 minutes of commercial and 40 of star trek wow thats alot getting cut from the show.

Yes - I remember that - to me, that was a big part of the opening!! I didn't know they had cut it.

Yeah, more and more you see these old classics cut to bits. At first I thought it was because something was getting damaged in the film so they were having to chop them up over the years, but it is probably more just to fit extra commercials in. We have more advertising in shows today than ever before. Its sickening.

What are you saying was cut out in the opening credits of Three's Company in syndication that wasn't on ABC?

That isn't something new. Mash episodes that were shown
in syndication were edited to include more commercials. Generally
the last 30-45 seconds was a finishing blurb as well as edits
to some scenes etc.

Also a lot of time the intros are edited as well to cut a little bit
more time. All in the hopes of adding more time for commericals.

FX was advertising showing the "uncut" episodes of MASH but
they don't seem to be doing that push anymore.
