After all I have read from the show being stretched out too far, I think that the show shouldv'e really ended this season. What do you people think that are the FOX people nuts or do you think the whole show should end respectively knowing that FX networks will repeat the whole series this fall?

End it now.

There is no time machine to enable us to go back and prevent the last 2 bad seasons, but there is the certainty that this show can only get worse next year with no Grace and Kutcher.

I'm torn. The quality has declined considerably and there's always the chance that another season will tarnish the show's great name.

On the other hand, this show is just comforting. It's like Friends was for me...I know it's there and I like knowing that.

There's always the possibility that something good will happen and that their departure will open up a new realm of comedy. You've got at least a good episode worth of material where they carry on like normal before remembering Eric's gone.

So, no vote for me...I'm neutral.

I'm beginning to wonder if they made Eric so lame this year in order to make it easier to live without him next season.

I'm not kidding, I think they intentionally made his character less defined, less funny, and less the center of the show (plot and attention).

The show revolved around Eric and I can't for the life of me think of anything this season that had to do with Eric, much less Eric and Donna- remember them? the center relationship of the show?

None taken. This reminds me of another show that had 8 seasons before ending in back in 1999. It's Home Improvement. Remember the first 6-7 seasons of the show were really good with Brad, Randy and Mark until around the time Jill's dad dies and Heidi gave birth to her baby. That was real good and superior. But the last 2 seasons (especially season 8 with Randy leaving for Costa Rica) the show had to definitely end it after season 7. But nonetheless the series finale of Home Improvement had a clip show, bloopers and not to mention, the revealing of the late Earl Hindman (Wilson) But nonetheless if That '70s Show were to end and at least salvage what good is left in it, do what Home Improvement did and not to mention the other show, Will & Grace.

About Eric, I almost wish that was the case, but, if anything, he's actually MORE defined this season than he last season when he was written as a complete idiot. I think you've got a good rationale going on but I think you're giving the writers too much credit. I think it's just poor writing that happened to stumble upon good logic.

I agree about Eric and Donna, though, and it's a real shame. They really should have played a "will they, won't they" story more with them. I appreciated the fact the writers could build a relationship without jerking the audience around (ala Friends) but it gives the show nowhwere to go. Now they're backed into a big corner. If they hadn't had these two so solid since, well, the beginning of the show (minus the wedding fiasco last season but we shall NEVER speak of that cluster%@#! again...and I know they've broken up once before, but still, even then it was only for one season and the undertones were always there) then maybe they could Sam/Diane their way out of this one. Now they can't. The audience won't be satisified.

As much as I dislike the Hyde/Jackie pairing (minus the break-up story this season which was great, except for the reconciliation which was horrible), at least it gives the writers something to work with in way of romance and they won't have to weasel in and out of this one.

Man, if I had more time, I'd love to write a huge essay on why this show is failing. Maybe I'll do it later.

I voted to end it. I'm sorry but I just can't imagine the show without Topher Grace. Although, I love Ashton, I could consider the show doing ok if just him left....but Grace? I just can't see the group getting together without him there.

I agree with another poster about the Hyde/Jackie relationship. I preferred her with Kelso, to be quite honest. I think Hyde and Jackie should've had their fling and ended it right there.

It just needs to end with dignity. Eric and Kelso have moved on already and it would just have everyone move on their own seperate ways so that everyone would have a good way to see what Jackie and Hyde are doing since their being together again and what Kelso is doing with his duty on the police role and for Eric, his Africa vacation will be as good as a bon voyage So it should just end it! Period end of story!

That doesn't sum up the six seasons of Eric and Donna - the central relationship of the show (I don't count this year).

What is Donna going to do all season?
Pull a Lori Beth from Happy Days and wait around and talk on the phone to Eric?

Then pretend their relationship is solid and hunky dory (whilst all this last year they dealt with nothing about it) and have them back together for a last episode with an Eric appearance?

That hardly cuts it.

End it!!!

It's getting to the point that they can't be in the 70s anymore anyway!! It appeared that they started the show in around "1976/77" (at least from the clothes and hairsytles) so from the timeframe its been running, they're into the 1980s. Besides, the "kids" are having their own kids now and it's changed the whole initial premise of the show.

Donna should have her work full time at the radio station and as well move to LA to host her nationally syndicated show so that she wouldn't miss most of Eric when he is in Africa and he can call in talking to her while she is off air and tell Donna how much he misses her and then maybe throw in a telegram from Eric in Africa just to update what is going on with him teaching and then maybe, just maybe, in the real last episode of the show, Eric and Donna Wed and then get married and a big suprise when Jerry Springer (Mayor of Cincinnati) comes by and thus have a Springer Show style wedding for the lsat ever That '70s Show episode. That would top out cherry on a big wedding cake don't you think?

If Donna moves to LA, then that drives the rest of the gang further apart and the show is ruined even more.

And Springer? Seriously?

Well, keep Donna in Point Place, Wisconsin but to make ratings boost, have Jerry!, Jerry!, Jerry Springer! on That '70s show playing Bill Malone and how trashy the radio is since he has a radio show nationally in real life. It's on weekdays from 9-12 PM on 1400 AM here in Bakersfield, Driving Rush Limbaugh out of commision.

Wow....i think we need to keep Springer off the show. But it really does need to end. Actually, they should have ended it at the end of season 6, cause as bad as it was, 7 has been much worse. After having like 2 Christmas '79s, and having Jackie graduate a year after the gang, etc. it's just no longer believable that the show is in the 70s. Grow. Take it into the 80s. At least acknowledge it. The actors seem bored in their roles, each week phoning in their performances. Without Ashton and Topher, two of the major centers of the show, I don't know how they expect to go on. As for it ending with dignity, no matter how and when they end, it is too late for that. Unfortunatley That '70s Show has gone past that and could never end with dignity. My hope is that it ends next season. 8 seasons to cover 3 years of these peoples lives is plenty. It's time to let go.

IMO, this show started it's decline when Eric's sister (the original actress) left. I know she was only on a few of the seasons but that, to me, was the beginning of the end.

I admit, I have not seen the show this season very much but what I did see was not too good. It wasn't particularly good last year either. This show is BASED on Eric. It is his point of view, so to speak. Most of the stuff happens in his house/basement, his mom and dad are prominate. It is absurd to continue it without the character. The core of this show was Eric and Red. Period.

Even as abysmal as this year was they should have done was have Eric and Donna marry at the end and go off to college. Now they are going to continue without Eric or even Kelso?

I'm sorry but this show has officially "jump the shark", IMO.

I agree with you on a lot of what you said, Jom. I too think the show started to decline when the first "Laurie" was ousted from the show. The show just felt...different.

You're right, though-- I just can't picture this show without Eric in it. The main focus of this show is hanging out in HIS basement and dealing with his parents. I'm curious to see how they are going to handle the show without Grace and Kutcher, but I doubt I'll be tuning in regularly.

R.I.P, That 70's Show...it was nice knowing you.

They need to ended it. Without the main character and another main character out of the show I don't see how they can continue it.
