View Full Version : What was Bob's Problem with Margaret?

One of the funny and forgotten things about Season One is Bob's serious distaste for neighbor Margaret. Whenever she's there and Bob comes home, he gives her a "get away from me" look and she runs out of the apartment.

Anyone know what's up with this? I agree that the actress who played her was ugly, obnoxious and bad(as a performer). Still, kinda rude.

I wondered the same thing. I wonder if she had just spent so much time at the Hartley's that Bob was tired of her, or maybe she hadn't been a great influence on Emily and Bob resented that?

Directors and actors give the characters backgrounds that we don't see except in reactions such as this - it leaves us using our imaginations!

You really did get the impression that he didn't care much for her. On some of the later episodes of season 1 you didn't hardly see her at all. Was she in Season 2?

No, Margaret was not in season 2 at all.

Kudos to the producers for realizing that the Margaret character never worked, and that's why we never saw her again. Chalk it up to first season experimentation.

Margaret was a character in the early portion of Season 1. She disappeared after a number of episodes - as someone earlier stated, the character just didn't work. Howard seemed to be the neighbor that worked - especially after Emily seemed to be working full-time.
