I sometimes hated the way Carter was often so stupid whenever he was with the heroes not undercover but would turn harsh and bright whenever he went undercover. If you can follow that. Love most of the babes on the show (like Sigrid Valdis)that's why watched.

There was one time where Carter was not portrayed as completely self-confident and clever while he was among the Germans. He inadvertantly joined the German army when "I heard a noise, and went to investigate, and I found the stuff." He was portrayed as saying the wrong things and not very confident in the words he was saying when talking to the Germans. What saved him was that he had a nice set of papers "signed by you, Major Newkirkheim, very convincing." Carter managed to go back and forth between where the Germans were staying and Stalag 13 in order to be present for the new night role calls. Carter asked Hogan if he could come home and leave the German army but Hogan wouldn't hear of it. Carter warned Hogan that he would go AWOL from two armies at the same time.
