I was wondering, how did you guys react to seeing Judyann Elder play the role of Harriette for the last 7 eps?

I kind of cringed because it was nothing like JoMarie Payton at all. I could not even watch the scenes because the chemistry was not there. Nothing against Elder but it was a big mistake to replace JoMarie Payton who played Harriette for 10 years (including Perfect Strangers). It was so funny because even my mother who is not really a fan of the show walked by and saw the new Harriette and she said "What kind of Harriette is that?" So you know that Judyann Elder did not fit the role at all.

Same here, my mom isn't even a fan of the show, and when she saw Judyann Elder she thought the same thing "she's not even acting like the 1st one" she said.

I only found out that Judyann Elder replaced JoMarie Payton recently for the last several episodes and I was kind of shocked not only because Elder did not look Payton, but also because Elder portrayed Harriette as WAAAYYY more reserved than she actually was. Harriette was a role that belonged only to Payton, but I guess there was nothing anyone could do about her leaving the cast.

My brother and I were both shocked when we saw her. We were both watching Carl talk to some woman in the kitchen and I'm like "Who's that?" and then my brother kept looking and he said "That's Harriette!?!". We both watched the show when it was on CBS and we never realized that they replaced the original Harriette.

I was shocked when this lady came on as Harriette. Uh uh, uh uh, Gina's momma from "Martin", yes, but Eddie and Laura's, no. She was totally out of place and had no heart and soul like Jo Marie Peyton did. I have nothing against Judyann Elder, she's a great actress, but she did not make a pretty good Harriette for my tastes.

I'm sure if Jo Marie Payton knew that the show would be ending in a few eps anyway, she probably wouldn't have quit.
