You need a DVD recorder to do that. Do you have a combo player or recorder? The combo recorders (all in one unit) allow you to play a VHS tape and copy it to DVD, or vice versa (with the exception of those with a copyguard). Copyguard is in just about every pre-recorded DVD and VHS tape you buy. Most older VHS tapes don't have it. I hope that helps.

No, T-Greg, he can probably do what he wants. Most combo players have a VHS record option, so he can go DVD>VHS, just not VHS>DVD. I have a Samsung VHS/DVD combo player, and can stick a DVD into it, play it and record it to a VHS - works great (I rarely do it anymore).

You cant do it if the dvd has copyguard on it this is usually the ones u can rent and not all combos can record from the dvd player only some and even most of the dvd/vcr recorder combos wont copy with copyguard, i have a go video combo DVD RW and VCR that will copy anything but its tricky with the dvd,s that have copyguard.
