View Full Version : Some not so good news...
daybreaker01 04-26-2005, 11:37 PM Well, I just spoke with my buddy who worked on the show and he filled me in on what he's been hearing. Unfortunately it doesn't sound too good right now.
Apparently Gail O'Grady and Tom Verica are not too keen on returning to the show. Gail is interested in persuing a sitcom role and Tom wants to direct. If they were to return they would most likely hold out for an increase in pay per episode of double what they are currently making, something along the lines of $100,000 per episode. That could effectively kill the show right there.
On the bright side he did say the producers are really anxious to get Meg to Woodstock in the show. But given the info above she may never get there.
I have to stress that this is just what is running through the backlot rumor mill and I certainly hope it doesn't turn out that way. As always I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
:(
ADfanclub 04-27-2005, 01:56 AM This isn't the definitive word or aynthing, because I haven't heard those specific things, but I don't know that those things are true... at least from my knowledge.
Tom Verica has directed a few episodes of the show, and he would be able to do more. He is also directing a movie over the hiatus.
Also, he has been doing a lot of press with newspapers about getting them to write articles about the show. He doesn't have to go out of his way like that. It seems to me that he is trying to keep the interest in saving the show going.
I interviewed him for an upcoming fan club newsletter, and he is seriously one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. From what I gathered, he LOVES AD, loves working there, and really gets along with the cast.
But then again, I am not in his head, and don't know his career objectives. This is all just my opinion.
PrettyinPink55 04-27-2005, 08:23 AM Oh no! :( :(
Brent88 04-27-2005, 09:57 AM If they want a pay increase, I seriously doubt NBC will go for that. If it was getting OK ratings, then I'd say maybe, but it's not.
Under 3 weeks to go til we know for sure... Monday May 16th.
californiadreamin 04-27-2005, 09:18 PM Arghhh that sucks :(
New AD fan 04-27-2005, 10:29 PM Could you do us all a favor and knock it off with the doom and gloom posts?

daybreaker01 04-27-2005, 11:53 PM Hey, I'm only telling you all what I hear from someone who works on the show! If you don't want to believe it thats fine with me. But if you all hold out for the big wigs to tell you what you want to hear, I think you'll be waiting an awful long time.
If it's all the same to you, I'll just stop posting and you can figure it out for yourself. I was just trying to help by giving you all an inside source of information. I don't want the show to end either. But if it does, as I have heard it did today, then it does. Nothing I can do about it.
Perhaps I'll just shut up and leave you all to fend for yourselves. But when you hear the "official" word from NBC, don't say I didn't tell you so.

Bonnier325 04-28-2005, 10:28 AM Is this an American Dreams message board,...or Peyton Place? Geeeez people...give each other a break. Everyone who comes to this message board loves American Dreams and their desire is to see it come back for a 4th season....and more. People are just sharing information that they have. The titles on those supposedly "doom and gloom" threads, are easy to read. If you don't want to hear a possibly negative outcome, then don't read those threads. I want to hear everything...and then I still prefer to think positively in the midst of a possible negative outcome.

Great8 04-28-2005, 10:39 AM Look, despite our best efforts, it is likely that the show is not coming back. That kind of thing is almost always dictated by ratings. We've done our best, we've written e-mails and postcards, and now it's up to the powers that be. I don't think anyone with a brain can't see the writing on the wall. The possibility of renewal is remote, but until I hear the official word, I'm not going to worry about it, and I will remain optimistic. If it's gone, we should be grateful for 3 fantastic years. If it's renewed, I'll jump for joy.
