I sure as hell wouldn't. First of all, he was a grown ass man! Secondly, I didn't like him. Third, he was a big sour puss and was ungrateful when Fred did cook his dinner! If I was in Fred's shoes, Lamont would have been a hungry young man.

If I was Fred I would have told him get up and cook your own damn dinner.

I agree 100%
He is a grown man! If he can't cook his own dinner, he can go to a fast food joint.

How can you people that that!! Lamont basically ran the entire business. How many customers did you actually ever see Fred take care of. Fred's job was to take care of the yard (which he rarely did) and take care of the house. Lamont might have been a jerk at times (actually more times than less), but i think Fred cooking for him is not a big deal.

I don't think Fred by calling Lamont a dummy every day of his life would get him any father of the year honors either.

Good points. But I think this may have been a throwback to the British show that inspired it, "Steptoe and Son" where the father was more or less "responsible" for the cooking of the son's dinner. Not sure. It could be that the deal was that Lamont would drive the truck and build up the business as long as Fred would take care of the home and the yard, which included cooking Lamont's dinner when he got home from working all day. When Fred slacked off and watched TV and drank beer all day, Lamont would come home pissed off. It was sort of like they were a married couple (a'la I Love Lucy), only father and son. Kind of creative, especially the first few seasons. This is probably one of my favorite shows of all time. JMO;)
