View Full Version : The Internet is no longer enjoyable to me because of.....
TVFactFan 04-23-2005, 02:35 PM MSN TV. I'm a MSN TV subscriber and it pisses me off that I can;t access certain websites. I can;t discuss sports anymore and i try going to google.com and can;t view email addresses. So i think it's time for me to buy a lab top so I can start enjoying the internet again. My first two years of having MSN TV was great. For some reason since 2003, so many websites have upgraded their site and it caused problems for me to log on. MSN TV is something I don;t recommend.
Mysty Eyes 04-23-2005, 02:46 PM I had MSNTV way back when it was WebTV (Microsoft bought it out).
It really is a good introduction to the internet, but yes it does have lots of limitations.
The service is slow to upgrade to new versions of software. I dare say that in some cases they simply cannot upgrade, but instead need to redesign. The internet is constantly getting more and more new "goodies" in the form of flash and java and the like. Sites that you once were able to access are no longer accessable because they have "improved" and MSNTV can no longer read the signals. It is frustrating.
If it is any consolation, that kind of upgrade can sometimes cause load problems on computers as well. And sometimes the hangup is because the user's computer has newer software than does the website.

My main purpose of being on the internet is to discuss Tv shows and Sports and now I can only discuss tv shows. I hope TJ doesn't Upgrade S.O because if he does I don't know what I will do if I can't access this site anymore-lol
Max Whittaker 04-23-2005, 04:26 PM I know what you mean! Webtv was my intoduction to the internet. It is simple and easy, so it worked out well for me. But there came a time when it just wasn't good enough for my purposes. I had always had problems getting onto SO. It got easier after TJ upgraded.
But then, my lab top came along, and I realized how much of the internet I was missing out on!
I've moved beyond WebTV or MSN TV or whatever they choose to call themselves. I would still recommend it for people who simply want access to the internent but don't know a whole lot about computers. It served me well for years.
Janice 04-23-2005, 04:37 PM I had WebTV for a while, years ago, and I wanted to toss the keyboard out the window or at the TV screen. Every page took foreeeeeeever to load. I can still remember that little round icon going around and around.
I ended up giving it away. Solomon, do yourself a favor and get a regular computer or laptop with a high-speed connection.

Your right. It was slow. The strange thing is, I kind of got used to it. A lesson in patience, you might say. What I never got used to was when pages simply would not load! Sitcomsonline, for example, would load the white background... and that was it. I knew that if it didn't load within the first minute, it never would.
I rememer the keys began sticking, too.

I remember that! It so irritating because the reload button on the keyboard wouldn't work and I had to use the reload on the remote! Problem was... I had lost the remote!
