View Full Version : Season 3 Cover Art (maybe) ph1l 04-22-2005, 09:16 PM While WB takes forever with any new developments, this is how I envisage season 3's cover art. :) Bonsai 04-22-2005, 10:23 PM There seems to be some real agreement among most fans that since the Season 1 collection featured water, and Season 2 featured tropical plants/palms, that Season 3 will feature sand. I'm just glad we'll have a chance to find out in July instead of January '06. You asked before what was missing from the TBS version of "The Friendly Physician." TBS didn't show the whole minute and a half where Gilligan introduces Dr. Balinkoff to the Skipper, where Mrs. Howell asks Dr. B if he is Dr. Livingston, and where Ginger and Mary Ann take turns kissing him to thank him for rescuing them----the TBS version jumps immediately from where Dr. B wakes Gilligan up at the lagoon to where they are all at the table by the huts. Later in the episode, they cut about 60 seconds where Igor is struggling trying to chain the Skipper in the dungeon and says "we'll get the others and then the doctor will make some changes." Have no fear about the DVD's being edited; they're not. If you remember Mary Ann singing it's probably from when she sang "Here I go gathering nuts in May" in "Castaway Pictures Presents." It has the same tune as "This is the way we wash our clothes." As for the Skipper finding Gilligan in a cave--that happened so many times, I guess it's easy to think it might have happened in any of the episodes. Munsters#1 04-22-2005, 10:57 PM That looks good just as it is! I like that cover! gilligan fanatic 04-23-2005, 01:09 PM good job. That looks very nice. I think you should sen that to WB. It is very good looking with the sun and the sand ph1l 04-24-2005, 05:30 AM with the sun and the sand That thing in the corner is a shell. :) Thanks for the kind words. I was looking for a colour group photo with more of a close up of the castaways but couldn't find any. I'm looking forward to finding out what scenes have been cut or edited when the set is out in July. Munsters#1 05-13-2005, 04:17 PM Ph1l, you couldn't have been more close to the cover art! Check it out! You even got the picture right! http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=3410 Bonsai 05-14-2005, 09:08 AM Wow! the cover art you came up with for Season 3 did turn out to be really really close---they even placed a starfish where you had put a shell. Either you work for Warner Brothers and didn't tell us, or you're a psychic! Remember someone was saying recently that there were two versions of the opening theme for the color episodes? gotta admit I thought that was ridiculous because I've been watching the show for many many many years and never noticed. However, when I was watching Hallmark this morning, they showed a Season 3 episode (Lovey's Secret Admirer) and I could have sworn that the song sounded faster and peppier than usual. Weird. I remember that before we were talking about how sometimes the opening credits were a little different---that when the casts' names were being shown that it sometimes was over a different shot of the Minnow that was a much darker background and Mary Ann's picture would be shown before the Professor's instead of the other way around. This morning's episode was like that too. IF there are two versions, I'm wondering if it's both the song and the visuals.  What do you guys think? TV DVD Fan 05-14-2005, 09:17 AM im not quite sure if ive ever seen a third season episode actually! so i really couldnt guess, because if i had seen a third season episode, i certainly dont remember it. i have heard the theme a million times though, and i never came across a 3rd version to the theme. we'll have to wait until july 26th i guess. hey guys what do you think of the features? season 1 seemed to have more than season two, yet season two had the introduction to the season. now season three has the same special features (same concept) plus a documentary. if the documentary is nice and long and good in quality which is what really counts, this set may have the best extras yet! ive never seen a documentary on a warner release before, so what do you think it'll be like? it better be at least a half hour though. it better not be one of those 1 minute so called tributes they sometimes put on dvds. one exception to a short tribute though would be a threes company season 3 extra "remembering john ritter" that was short, and sweet. but i generally like longer, in depth documentaries. what do you guys think? pat Munsters#1 05-14-2005, 09:51 AM Well, if you thought the John Ritter Bio was short, listen to this. The Munsters Season 2 DVD set, is supposed to have 4 hours of Bios of the series, Fred, Yvonne, and Al. Can you believe that? 4 hours in documentaries. I have all 4, because I got the Image DVD, that was set for release, but I think what they're gonna do is, is put all those Bios on the S2 DVD. But, back to GI.... I think the Bio they're gonna use is, is that E! Bio that came out about 6 years ago on the E! network. That's the only Bio of GI, that I think is out there. It ran about 2 hours long. TV DVD Fan 05-14-2005, 09:53 PM no its a new one. you can see from the title of it "Gilligan's Island- A Pop Culture Phenomenon." its gonna be a made for dvd documentary. pat ph1l 05-15-2005, 05:06 AM I'm a little surprised they used that picture for the cover art. It's a fairly common one. I really thought they'd use a colourised black and white one, like the second season, or at least something a little more rare. There was quite a few of us thought a sand motif would be the next logical backdrop so nothing psychic there. :) ph1l 05-16-2005, 05:27 AM I noticed a few changes in the photo WB used to the original. They coloured the water and far shore. Moved the Skipper behind Mrs. Howell. (A good move to help zoom in on the castaways). Removed grass in front of Mrs. Howell. Constructed the boat behind the Skipper's previous position And used a different face for the Skipper and Ginger. Poor Mr. Howell gets a less than flattering portrayal again. If they could have sharpened the picture a little it would have been a great touch up. Munsters#1 05-16-2005, 07:24 AM Why can't they just use the picture? Why do they have to fool around with it like that? |
