In the episode "Frannie's Choice," Fran is proposed to by her ex-boyfriend, Danny. Now, she tells her mother who thinks it is Mr. Sheffield that proposed to her. In reponse, this is what Fran said:

"The boss never marries the help. Look at Tony and Angela. After 8 years, he went so crazy that he skiied into a tree."

Now, this would be incrediably funny if it were accurate. Wasn't it Angela that skiied into the tree????

Yeah I'm pretty sure it was Angela. You'd think they'd get that right, considering the Nanny had the same producers as WTB?

I thought the producers on "The Nanny" were Fran and Peter or whatever his name was.

Robert Sternin and Prudence Frasier were writers for WTB? and then went on to direct the Nanny. Sorry got those mixed up

I'll bet it was a blooper that Fran makde that got past them, or they thought they could leave it in and nobody would really notice. They didn't expect fans like these!

I could be wrong about this, but I THINK the joke was referring to Tony Danza. Didn't he have an accident at one point where he skied into a tree? I remember hearing about that on Entertainment Tonight or something.

Just my 2 cents.

A. That could be true, but then it would be suggesting that Fran Drescher would go crazy, rather than Fran Fine.

B. It could very well be a blooper and Fran meant to say "she" since it was Angela throwing herself off a cliff. I think they were getting at it took Angela throwing herself off a cliff to get Tony to propose.

C. They said "he" because technically if they had said "she" then the employer (Max) would have to throw himself off the cliff before the help (Fran) decided to marry him. They probably could have used something else other than that event to switch the roles.

So, it can all be argued!

Actually WTB? is referred to many times on The Nanny. I just saw it a few days ago on TV when Fran and Maxwell were at Miss *something* Contest. And the woman's last name was Micelli or something.

Anyway . . the two people that worked on both WTB? and The Nanny . . well they didn't always do WTB? lots of times . .and when they were they were Supervising Producers. At least that is what I've always seen in the WTB? Credits.

Also the joke was about Tony Danza. He mentioned it a few times on his show when it was still starting.

You are right. Tony Danza was involved in a really bad sking accident back in the early 90s. His real life accident was the first thing that entered my mind when I read Lil Micelli's post.

Robert Sternin and Prudence Frasier --- they were also Story Editors for WTB?
