Under One Roof

This sitcom is about a widowed mother of three grown daughters (one's a lesbian, one's divorced, one's still single). Florence Henderson plays Marge Cooper, the always-nagging mom/grandma who recently retired from 45 years of nursing. Ellen DeGeneres plays Ellen Cooper, the recently out-of-the-closet radio talk show host. Marge isn't quite accepting yet of Ellen being a lesbian. Laurie Metcalf plays Laurie Cooper (Van Lanen), the bitter (towards men) divorcee who is a mom of two daughters: the smart 21-year-old Charisse Van Lanen (Ashley Johnson) and the angst-ridden 17-year-old Kendra Van Lanen (Evan Rachel Wood). Laurie and her ex-hubby, Dave Van Lanen (Ray Romano) share a love-hate relationship with each other, even after their divorce-since they both share custody of Kendra, much to Kendra's dismay at times. Dave is a complete angel who does no wrong in Marge's eyes. Faith Ford plays Maggie Cooper, the single sister who has no kids and no relationship. Maggie is looking for Mr. Right in all the wrong places and wrong times. Marge is constantly on Maggie's back about settling down and getting married and having a family. Marge, Ellen, Laurie, Maggie, Charisse, and Kendra (every other week) lives in the same house.
