View Full Version : Show me that smile again
inspector gadget 05-15-2001, 08:03 PM Show me that smile again (oooh show me that smile);
Dont waste another minute on your cryin',
We're nowhere near the end,
The best is ready to begin (oo-oooh-ooh);
As long as we' got each other,
We' got the world spinnin' right in our hands;
Baby you and me,
We gotta be,
The luckiest dreamers who never quit dreamin';
As long as we keep on givin',
We can take anything that comes our way;
Baby rain or shine,
All the time;
We got each other, sharin' the laughter and love.

mstewart 07-01-2003, 02:10 AM I love the first season's version of the theme song when it was only B.J. Thomas singing it. He has an awesome tenor voice.

I heard the original version by B.J. Thomas alone in an album he released during the first season of the show. I loved his version of that song. When they added Jennifer Warnes and Dusty Springfield it killed the song and they put the nail in the coffin by adding a choral during the second to the last season of the show.
Mcfly 07-02-2003, 01:08 PM I love the duet version. The show deals with a husband and wife so it should be a duet.
Everyone seems to hate the "chorus" version near the end of the series. I thought it sounded great.
JMFabiano524 02-13-2007, 12:20 AM Yes Dusty rocks!
Yamatoking 02-13-2007, 04:20 PM Yeah that song is really great and along with the Family Ties theme song"Without us",it's really one of the best 80s intros for me.It's sad that sitcoms these days don't care for great music intros anymore.
Scoobiedoo30 02-13-2007, 05:50 PM Show me that Smile is an awsome theme song
Buffyboy323 02-14-2007, 10:17 AM I love the duet version. The show deals with a husband and wife so it should be a duet.

I completely agree!!! The duet is my favorite version of the opening. It's awesome. One of the best Sitcom theme songs of all time.
I don't like the real slow version in I think Season 4....
Buffyboy323 02-14-2007, 10:31 AM Do you think Nick@Nite will edit the Theme Song? :(
They will most likely take out the 2nd part:
As long as we keep on givin',
We can take anything that comes our way;
Baby rain or shine,
All the time;
We got each other, sharin' the laughter and love.
The "I" Network does, and so did my local channels. ABCFAMILY showed all the opening theme songs in full, so hopefully N@N does as well. It would suck if they don't!
Buffyboy323 02-15-2007, 05:43 PM So I watched a few episodes late last night, and they show the COMPLETE version of the theme song!!! I was so happy. I hope they never shorten it. Ever! :)
Glass Joe 02-15-2007, 09:43 PM I think this show had the best sitcom theme song of all time. Other favorites: Wonder Years, Cheers, Perfect Strangers, Friends.
Better Days 02-16-2007, 12:13 AM I agree, and will add ALF!
When they added Jennifer Warnes and Dusty Springfield it killed the song There's an opinion...You may have gotten too attached to the 1st one, having that album, and being conditioned to think that's the 1 and only theme and anything else is blasphamy. While the GP song isn't my favorite, I like all the versions. And they are all good. I was noticing just last night how well the 2 voices play off each other.
SBTB Geek 02-17-2007, 03:19 AM I thought it was Celine Dion singing the female vocals. :D
freshprinceofLA 02-17-2007, 06:33 AM a great theme song! I like the duet version the best reminds me of maggie and jason.
An 80s Guy 02-17-2007, 02:03 PM This is one of the great TV theme songs along with Chico And The Man,Welcome back,And The Cheers theme.
mstewart 02-17-2007, 02:27 PM I agree, and will add ALF!

I did not state that it was the only theme but the first season was my preference. B.J. Thomas have a rich strong tenor voice and hearing that and tone was great. I did not care much for the duets but they weren't bad but it did take away the power of B.J. Thomas' voice. As for the album that song was the first season and it was the full version. I believe that album is out of print.
The song B.J. Thomas did for Mike's graduation This is the Day was a great song. I am a B.J. Thomas fan.
McFly121 02-17-2007, 04:16 PM Celine Dion-ish...eh, maybe.
But the woman who did it also did "Up Where We Belong" (Officer and a Gentleman) and the "Dirty Dancing" song, 'Time of My Life'.

It was Jennifer Warnes. She also had hits, I Know A Heartache When I See One and The Right Time of the Night.
