View Full Version : Lt. Murtah and Rachael's Place in the 4th Season
Urkel_2003 04-20-2005, 11:40 AM Something I always thought was strange during the 4th Season was there was only one episode that featured these 2 things, that were regular parts of the show during the previous 2 years.
Lt. Murtah appeared quite a bit during Seasons 2 and even more in season 3 and it seemed as though his popularity in Season 3 would mean he might be joining the cast as a Full Time Cast member in Season 4 like Waldo right? Well in Season 4 Lt. Murtah only made one brief appearance and it was in the episode when Steve and Carl were in the Same Hospital room together. He was never seen again after that.
Rachael's place was only seen once and it was during the opening tag in the Season premire of Season 4. It was when Steve had roller blades on and said he wanted to improve his skills as a waiter. After this Rachael's Place would never be seen, or mentioned again.
It's odd how his person and this place were regular parts of the show during the previous 2 seasons then only got one brief moment during the show's 4th season. Does anyone know exactly why this is?
I was wondering the same thing especially about Rachel's place. Maybe Carl got a new boss during the 4th season who knows? And we know Carl got promoted in season 5. I can't understand why they did not explain what happened to Rachel's place. It was a big part of the show for seasons 2 and 3 and then all of sudden it was not mentioned again.
Urkel_2003 04-20-2005, 01:10 PM Also you will notice that in Season 5 Mighty Weenie became the new Hang Out place for the kid's on the show. But Mighty Weenie was gone by the time Season 6 came on.
And also Steve was all of sudden working at Mighty Weenie when he was originally working at Rachel's Place. And an episode in season 5, where Laura got a job at night and Harriette mentions that she already has an afterschool job. Both Steve and Laura were working at Rachel's Place and all of a sudden they were not same with Rachel you would think she would mention something about her resturant in season 4 but she didn't. They could have at least said she sold it or something.
Urkel_2003 04-20-2005, 03:13 PM I think what they should have done is kept Rachael's place around and in Season 5 they should have still had it there even with Rachael gone and Harriet could have taken it over and they could have had a detailed explination of Rachael's absense. Harriet did loose her job at the beggining of Season 5 so it would have been perfect timing for her to take over Rachael's place.
James"Thunder"Early 04-20-2005, 03:19 PM Sounds like to me the writers weren't good with continuity. But if this can be figured out maybe Rachael's Place became Mighty Weenie and Steve started working there. as for Lt. Murtagh there is no explaination.

This is a very good idea but like you said the writers were way too busy focusing on Steve, Laura, Myra, Eddie and Waldo to even think about it.
SimpsonsFan 04-21-2005, 10:06 AM I agree, they should have kept Rachel's Place around even after she left, when Arnold left Happy Days they still showed his restaurant.

You know something Simpson's Fan? You just gave me a great idea. Instead of having Harriet taking over Rachel's Place they could have had an Brand New Charachter join the cast that season who took over Rachel's Place and they could explain Rachel's absence, but the name of the restaurant would be the same. In the first episode this new person is in they could be very strict and bossy and very unlike Rachel and he/she could work Laura and Steve's tail's off and make them do all kinds of extra detailed stuff, making them exhausted and very frustrated with this new owner. Sound good?

Sounds good to me, I started a topic some time ago about how FM is alot like HD, if they did that, then that would be another thing they have in common. When Al took over Arnold's they didn't change the name, although they almost changed it to Fonzie and Big Al's after it burned down.
SimpsonsFan 05-16-2005, 10:24 AM Yeah, but if they brought a new owner, that means they would be acknowleding the fact that Rachel is no longer with them, and for some reason, the writers just didn't want to do that.
