View Full Version : Loose with the vampire myth
Laugh30 04-19-2005, 09:10 AM I guess to keep from putting limitations on the characters, vampires Lily and Grandpa were allowed to go out in the daytime and have their reflections show in mirrors. Or could they have worked those vampire facts into the series?
A solution, Grandpa, a mad scientist, came up with a potion that cured him and Lily of those problems.
And Grandpa's wife, along with Lily, have been mentioned to have died a few times. What kept Grandpa's deceased wife from making a comeback?
Munsters#1 04-19-2005, 01:45 PM I don't know, there is a lot of uncharted territory when it comes to The Munsters history. I found it strange that it took us all the way to "Munster, Go Home!" before we found out that Herman ever went to England.
Fred Gwynne Fan 05-04-2005, 08:34 PM I always thought Lily was supposed to be the bride of Frankenstien
rather than a vampire.
Laugh30 05-04-2005, 08:56 PM Grandpa is Count Dracula and Lily's his daughter, so she's a vampire. Lily married the Frankenstein monster (Herman), so you could call her the Bride of Frankenstein, but Dr. Frankenstein didn't create Lily in his laboratory.
The show's writers, producers and makeup crew payed a little homage to the Bride of Frankenstein by, early on in the series, having a white streak running through Lily's hair. But, it's parody in whatever way you can achieve it.
Munsters#1 05-04-2005, 09:39 PM Originally, Lily had two white streaks in her hair. Then, they changed the wig, so she had just one white streak. Later, Yvonne felt that the white streak made her look old, so she colored it out using black marker or something like that. Eventually, by the end of Season 2, Lily had only one faint gray streak.
Munsters#1 05-05-2005, 02:09 PM Oh, by the way, Lady Vamp's are always called Vampira, not Vampire. But Lily is still a Dracula from her father's side of the family.
Fred Gwynne Fan 05-05-2005, 02:34 PM OK.

Here's a delayed thought: how'd they explain away the fact that a monster and a vampire produced a wolf-child. Hmmmm.
Laugh30 05-29-2005, 07:46 PM Lily's brother Lester was a werewolf. It must be on her mother's side. (Look at how we're discussing genealogy here! The wonderful world of 1960s television.)

:D
That make him a Wolfenstien?

Oh, please, don't make it any more confusing than what it already is.

I had considered 'frankenwere' but that sounds too much like something you'd put leftovers in.
