Anyone remember the Nightime Price is Right that aired in prime time access in the 70s? This version was hosted by Dennis James for the first four years before Bob Barker took on double duty. James also subbed for Barker on the daytime show for three episodes when Barker was recovering from injuries after being hoisted by a Samoan. Those were the only shows he missed in the show's historic run. But the one thing I remember from the nighttime shows that James hosted was his signoff when he said "Don't miss the show next week because if you do we'll miss you."

I don't remember that show with Dennis James hosted the prime time version of "The Price Is Right" back in the 70's. The one that I don't remember from the 80's was Tom Kennedy hosted the syndicated version of "The Price Is Right" and I also remember Doug Davidson hosted "The Price Is Right" back in the 90's with that horrible set.

I also remember the short-lived 90s syndicated Price is Right with Doug Davidson as host. Even though it had the same pricing games as the daytime version, there was no Contestants Row and the set was a lot different.

There were a couple of bright spots to this incarnation. An aerial crane camera that showed the audience as well as the Big Wheel and Plinko board and Burton Richardson as the show's announcer. He was my pick to replace Rod Roddy after he passed away.

i remember the show very well even tho i was a kid when it first aired .if you will all indulige me for a minute i will tell some of you too young to remember about some things i remember from the show 1 the contrast between the james and barker hosting styles were like night and day barker back in those days was like your friendly neighbor and would explain the game to you 20 times if you didnt understand the rules much like he still does today. dennis james for all his warmth and friendliness on other shows was almost scary sometimes on this show. and he would ekplain the pricing game rules once if you didnt understand it that was your tough luck. however dispite his sometimes gruff manner it seemed he really cared alot about the contestants and really seemed to feel bad for them when they lost.2 the different ways of explaining the rules by both hosts is almost comical when put side by side here are 2 examples 1 on the shell game bob barker tends to go the long way around the barn by saying wich of these shells do you want to pit the chip beside that you think has the ball under it. mr. james is very short and to the point his way of asking the same question is 5 words wich one do you want? and on the race game while bob says you pull this arm down dennis uses the word lever so that it comes out leever i just thought that was funny when i was a kid 3 dennis had an opening line on every show that went something like this we have beutful prizies to give away and how wrere going to do that is 3 lucky people will win a prize and then come up on stage and play games with me and then at the end of the show 2 people will get a crack at the uh showcase. 4 there are 2 really funny moments that always stood out for me on the show mainly because dennis james was never a berral of laughs but at least 2 times he had me laughing once they were playing the money game and for some reason he got the game all scerwed up in he was pulling the wrong number tags off the bord and just making a real mess of things .johnny olsen finally had to tell him he had the wrong numbers and to put them back. the other time was the shell game and the woman had won 3 out of 4 shells and dennis asked wich one she wanted to look under first but when the woman told him wich one she wanted he said to her were not going to look under the one you picked first .do you know why? she says why and he says because im mean. but the funny part came when he forgot the game for a second and started to sing because im mean. im mean it was so funny and unasul to see him do something like that on this show. well ive posted enough on this topic sorry if my post was too long.
