What is your all-time favorite episode of Green Acres and why?

My favorite episode in number 147 titled Jealousy. I love the way Eb is so jealous of Lisa's and Oliver's attention to Lori. The kicker of this episode is the last part when Oliver buys Eb his very own car.

I liked several,but probably the best one was when Oliver dreamed one of the hens was laying square eggs and he just couldn't find out exactly which hen it was.It was a dream,but it was one of the best examples of Green Acres' screwball comedy.

any episode with arnold the pig. he had a full converstion going on (LOL)

The one where Arnold was secretly dating Mr. Haney's basset hound.It was so nice that he taught her to speak pig...although Mr.Haney didn't think so.

At first, the episode in which Lisa planted her own vegetable garden was my favorite. But now, I don't have a particular favorite.

I can describe for you the most romantic scene in the episode "THE WEDDING ANNIVERSARY". In this particular scene, Oliver and Lisa were all dressed up to go to the Shady Rest Hotel to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Oliver wore a tuxedo and Lisa wore a very sexy red strapless gown with a matching shawl, and they were just simply romantic. They were holding each other tight, kissing, and just had that romantic look on their faces. I'll even admit that I have actually fantasized Eva Gabor and her real-life husband at the time, Richard Brown, in this type of romantic position. Right after this episode that I have on tape, I have an infomercial of 70's disco dance music.

Another one of my favorite episode is the Christmas episode, which I call the rare episode, because I did not see it repeated again until 1985, 19 years after it originally aired on CBS. At the end, when their Hooterville neigbors leave their house after celebrating Christmas, Oliver and Lisa were just holding each other tight and kissing. Oliver wore a business suit, and Lisa wore a sexy red strapless gown. Right after this episode of tape, I have an infomercial of Dick Clark's Rock and Roll Era.

Like I said before, I really have no particular favorite episode. But they are all on one tape each with these rock/pop music infomercials, documentaries, movies, and specials.

The episode where the Douglases try to paint their house, but the wood keeps sucking up the paint.

My favorite episode has got to be "The Ballad of Molly Turgis." In that episode, every time someone says the name Molly Turgis (who was the ugliest woman in Hooterville before she died) her spirit does something bad to him or her. Oliver tried to write a song about her, I believe.

My favorite episode is one where Oliver meets a lady farmer/neighbor of his and she takes him to her farm to show him around and then cooks dinner for him. This makes Lisa jealous and she then invites the woman to their house for dinner and while Oliver and the woman are deep in conversation excluding Lisa, she (Lisa) sits at the table and gets drunk. It was hilarious! It has been years since I saw that episode and I would love to see it (and all the others) again. Does anyone know what the name of that episode is? I sure wish TVLand would bring back Green Acres!!!:wave:

Twinkles: I know the episode that you're talking about. Later on in the episode, Mrs. Ziffel and this other woman were in Mr. Drucker's store talking about some soap opera plot that they saw the night before where this guy was going to leave his wife and run off to South America with this other woman, and they were going to meet right in front of the bus depot. Lisa and Eb overheard the conversation and she assumed that it was Oliver and that woman farmer.

They wait for him at the house, and they were both mad at him. Mrs. Ziffel then came by and asked Oliver if she could watch the show on his TV set because hers was busted. She told him what is was about, but wouldn't let her in the house. Then he went back into the bedroom with Lisa, and she was about to pack his bags. He then sat down to watch TV and there it was, the show that Mrs. Ziffel was talking about, and he told Lisa why she would believe that stuff on television, because it wasn't him and that woman farmer. In fact, he told Lisa that he would never even dream of running away with another woman, and pledged his love and faithfulness to her.

The name of that particular episode was "HOW TO SEE SOUTH AMERICA BY BUS", which is one of the episodes that I have on tape.

My favorites are "How to Get from Hooterville to Pixley Without Moving," in which Oliver has to get a building permit for the Monroe Brothers to build his new bedroom, and finds out that according to the survey, his house is really located in Pixley, and then comes home to find the phone taken out, the gas and electricity cut off, his taxes raised, and everyone upset with him, all because he "moved to Pixley."

And "Old Mail Day," in which Drucker holds the Old Mail Day Ceremony to distribute all the mail that's been lost in his store.

I also love how people screw up Oliver's name in the various episodes. The one with State Representative Ben Hanks is classic....Drucker prints up a World Guardian with the big headline, OLIVER WENDELL DUNGESS TO CHALLENGE HANKS.

Jeez, there are too many to list. My least favorites are the ones with Drobny the duck.

Boy, it's hard to choose! Well, I'm a big fan of Mr. Haney, so it's prolly a toss up b/t "Haney's New Image" and "The Cow Killer". The last one is definitely Mr. Haney at his con artist best! I laughed and laughed all through that one. It really should have been entitled "A Day in the Life of Eustace Charlton Haney". And that one episode where Ralph and Hank Kimball got married was too funny!

There are so many good episodes, I like the one about the IRS case files with the Oliver Wendell Douglas Monkey Racing Track and any episode where Arnold is in one of the plot lines.

The episode where Oliver invites Amy Collins over to dinner is "HOW TO SEE SOUTH AMERICA BY BUS". That episode too is alsone one of my favorite episodes as well.

It is also the one where both Eb and Lisa were outside of Mr. Drucker's store, and Lisa overhears Mrs. Ziffel telling another farm wife about an episode of a soap opera that Mrs. Ziffell saw the night before, where this married man brought home the other woman that he was seeing to his house, slipped a mickey into his wife's champagne, the two of them made plans to run away together to South America, and both him and the other woman were going to meet in front of the bus depot. Lisa suspected that Mrs. Ziffel was talking about Oliver and Amy Collins, and got very upset about it, but then Lisa admitted that it was the soap opera plot that Mrs. Ziffel was talking about. Oliver also told Lisa that he would never dream of running away with another woman and pledge his committment to and his love for Lisa.

My favorite episode is "Oh Promise Me" I love the romance scenes and this episode was romantic from beginning to end.

My favorite Green Acres episode is beetween the one where Oliver and Lisa get trapped in the cellar and when Oliver buys Lisa a horse for her birthday. :wave:

I have two :

The first is when Dilly Watkins "electronificates" the farm.

The second one is "Hooterville Image" when Ziffel and Newt Kiley make fun of Oliver for wearing
suits when he is plowing or changing oil etc.

Too many to mention! But I love "Double Drick" (The one where Oliver tries to get the Hooterville friendly gas/power/electrical company to get the "electricital" (as Lisa would say!) wired into the house. He goes in a rant to the power company office and is forced to take a number to be waited on. (He has number 22, but there is no one else there except the guy behind the counter!!!) He keeps reading off the numbers: Four.....anybody got #4....five....#5....than he skips numbers telling Oliver "some of our customers walked off with them!!!" Oliver says, "Maybe they got tired of waiting!" Than Oliver says, "HERE I GOT 22!!!!" The guy goes, "Oh my! I thought we lost that one!"

But the hysteria is that in Hooterville they have to put the meter in before you get electricity!!! (Company policy!) It's put in by..........(how can you top this for laughs????) LAWYLOR THE INSTALLER!!! But, he doesn't actually measure the amount of "electricital!" That job belongs to PETER GREADER THE METER READER!!!!!!" He measures the as Lisa would say, "Killer's watts" (killawats!)

There can't be a favorite. I have about 12 favorites. But...

Lisa's cabbage soup (or something like that) turns out to be a miraculous spot remover. A couple of exchanges:

Doris Ziffel, holding the cleaning fluid: "Fred, do you know what this is?"
Fred Ziffel: "How do I know, you drink something different every day"
Doris: "It's cleaning fluid"
Fred: "When did you switch to that?"


Sam Drucker's new toupee falls in the pickle barrel and turns green (actually, Hank Kimball thought it was an animal, sprayed it with bug spray, beat on it with a broom, and he and Sam wrestled with it until it fell into the barrel)

Fred walks in: "Sam, you been fishin'?"
Sam: "No, why?"
Fred: "Where'd you get that seaweed?"
Sam: "Fred, it's my new toupee"
Fred: "Got one in green, hunh? Well, weirder things than that have caught on."

"The Wish-Book". You couldn't get any zanier than this one. Who could forget..."Abraham Lincoln--STANDING ON HIS HEAD!!". Or, "But I vanted the cream separator!!" Or, "Dickie Mouse"! Or Tessie's bravura performance in "The Great Drain Robbery"!! Great send-up of silent movies and mail-order catalogs that just don't fill your order right!!!!

the one where Oliver FINALLY gets a real crop..of apples, but, after renting a truck to bring them to market, nothing goes right

There are so many but...........I would have to say that mine is the episode where Oliver is asked to be a judge. They were vague (of course) as to what kind of judge. They meant "apple judge" and Oliver thought they meant an actual court of law judge. He went to the trouble of flying to New York to tell his mother and he visited his old law school professor to get some advice........"Do you want judge lessons" the professor asks. Lisa takes a phone call from someone back in "Hootersville" and tells Oliver they were calling about him judging apples. He immediately scolds her for not taking the message accurately......for surely (he thinks) they were refering to him being a judge on the appellate court. Gotta love it!

My favorite ep is definitely "A Square Is Not Round". (This is the one where one of the chickens lays square eggs, and they try to find out who it is....but....I won't reveal the rest!) The first time I saw this on TV, I missed the first few minutes. I was SO GLAD when it was part of the Season 2 DVD. I love the idea of being able to make the toaster work just by saying "Five". My favorite part of this ep is when Mr. Haney comes by after learning of the square eggs, and offers Mr. Douglas and "slightly used number 3 toaster." Mr. Douglas replies, "no thanks, I've got a five" - and at that moment the hood to Haney's truck flies open. Haney mutters, "the fella that sold me this truck said it had a number two hood." Toward the end of the scene, as Haney's about to board his truck, he loudly says the number "SEVEN" and the truck starts up! LOL!!!

Also, my fave eps are any where they feature the "names" (such as Directed by______) on things like eggs, plywood, etc. during the opening credits. Someone would often say "there's those names again" or something to that effect!

That's why I love this show so much....it never took itself, or its characters seriously!

I really liked the episodes in which Fred Ziffel shows that he's re-shingled a portion of his roof with Lisa's pancakes, and the one in which the old tractor is hopped up (Oliver starts it up and it takes off like a rocket!).

I loved many that you've mentioned. The spot remover episode was brilliant. How about the one in which the "artwork" arrives at the Douglas home, and turns out to be an incredible mess of plumbing pipes?

There are lots, though; if I had to name one, I would probably choose the very first episode as my favorite.
