View Full Version : Nail in the coffin for Jake in Progress (Last night's ratings)
Brent88 04-15-2005, 12:06 PM Estimated fast nationals... 3.0/5, a full ratings point lower than last week(which was terrible enough). This show will NOT be back in the Fall. In fact, I dare say ABC Thursdays will undergo a complete overhaul.
UPN even beat ABC last night AT 8 AND 9PM!!! UPN is not even avaliable everywhere!
"Survivor: Palau" led off the night for CBS with an 11.9/20. FOX was a very distant second with "The O.C.," 4.4/7. NBC managed only a 3.9/7 with reruns of "Joey" and "The Office," but that was good enough to beat "WWE Smackdown!" on UPN and an hour of "Jake in Progress" on ABC. The WB posted a 2.1/3 with two episodes of "Blue Collar TV."

That's viewer votes... I hate that stupid thing!

Futon Critic:
New episodes of "Survivor: Palau" (households: 11.9/20, #3; adults 18-49: 7.1, #2), "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (households: 16.6/26, #1; adults 18-49: 9.3, #1) and "Without a Trace" (households: 13.0/22, #2; adults 18-49: 6.5, #3) crushed the competition on Thursday, giving CBS (households: 13.8/22, #1; adults 18-49: 7.6, #1) another firm victory on the night.
Bringing up the rear was ABC (households: 3.3/5, #5; adults 18-49: 1.4, #5) with a repeat of "Jake in Progress" (households: 2.9/5, #14; adults 18-49: 1.1, #17) along with new episodes of "Jake in Progress" (households: 3.1/5, #T11; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T13), "Extreme Makeover" (households: 3.0/5, #13; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T13) and "PrimeTime Live" (households: 4.0/7, #8; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T10).
Coory 04-16-2005, 12:03 AM Nail in the coffin sounds about right....
Miss Golden 04-16-2005, 12:52 AM Jake in Progress is doing worse than Life As We Know It....OUCH.
Mr. Television 04-16-2005, 12:56 AM and I just saw my first show of it Thursday night and liked it. It figures.
Coory 04-16-2005, 04:26 PM Why would it be on the 19?
Brent88 04-16-2005, 04:33 PM Just cross your fingers that the last two episodes air as scheduled on April 21.
Or April 19, as ABC's website helpfully states.
They'll almost certainly air. Nothing ABC puts on Thursday will do better(at least not this season).
The 19th is a Tuesday.
May 17th is when the ABC Fall schedule will be announced so we'll know defintively then.

This is from USA Today:
The TV Show Survivors/Victims
USA Today (http://www.usatoday.com/) and AICN (http://www.aintitcool.com/) have revealed which scripted shows are dead, which will live on when the new season of shows begins in September, and which may or may not be back. Final decisions for some still aren't set but for the most part they seem to be locked in.
High profile renewals that are certain include: "24", "Alias", "Boston Legal", "Charmed", "Cold Case", "Crossing Jordan (http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/050413l.php#)", "Desperate Housewives", "ER", "Gilmore Girls", "Grey's Anatomy", "House", "Joey", "Las Vegas", "Lost", "Malcolm in the Middle", "Medium", "Numb3rs", "The OC", "One Tree Hill", "The Simpsons", "Reba", "Scrubs", "Smallville", "7th Heaven", "That 70's Show", "Veronica Mars", "The West Wing", "Without a Trace" all three "CSI", and all four "Law & Order".
Cancellation wise most of the ones going are shows which failed to launch with the new season or others which only did ok. Long running shows ending for this season include "Enterprise", "JAG", "Third Watch (http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/050413l.php#)", "NYPD Blue (http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/050413l.php#)", "American Dreams" and "Everbody Loves Raymond". More recently launched titles like "Point Pleasant", "North Shore (http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/050413l.php#)", "LAX", "Jake in Progress" and "Medical Investigation" are all gone.
Still undecided for now are such high profile titles as "Will & Grace (http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/050413l.php#)", "Judging Amy", "8 Simple Rules", "Arrested Development (http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/050413l.php#)", "Jack & Bobby", "Kevin Hill", "The Office" and "Summerland". You can however have a say by voting in online poll (http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/save-our-shows.htm). If you can't see your favourite show in this list, be sure to click here (http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=19899) for the full one.
