There are LOTS....but I thought it would be a COOL idea to start a thread so that we can add to it whenever something happens to remind us of Freddie.... :) Like I dont know if you all know it but I am also a Mike Piazza fan...He is the catcher for the METS....hes ADORABLE.... and anyway...there was this article I was reading when the pope passed about how Mike had visited him back in 2002 and how religious Mike is. I am a catholic....not that I can really say I practice catholocism but I was raised catholic...and I do remember One thing that CHICO always said... "THANK YOU GUADALUPE" and while I always knew it to be a saint of some kind, I had NEVER before or since heard it mentioned ................

Well, this is FROM the article I read.............. WHICH IMMEDIATELY MADE FREDDIE COME TO MIND.....................

" QUOTE:"

While on a team trip to Mexico in 2003, Piazza — who thought of becoming a priest before his home-run-hitting prowess led him to the baseball diamond —was the only Met who ventured to visit the sacred Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Oh to find another Met fan.... we are so few these days.... I spent most of my highschool years glued to a seat at Shea with my friends, when we weren't going around stalking our favorite players at all their personal appearances. BTW Buddy Harrelson was my fave back then.... which tells you how old I am! LOL I even went to the third game of the 73 world series at Shea!

I haven't lost my love for the Mets, but I have a new love.... The Nationals. There are several Hispanics, I think a few from PR on the team. I bet Freddie loved baseball. I only wish I knew which team he followed. I always hoped it wouldn't be the Yankees but living so close to their stadium, I bet he went to several Yankee games!

 kewl! another METS fan..... the season seems to be starting off pretty good for them........ lets hope Mikey does well this year and has no injuries.... poor boy has been hurt a few times.... by the way...for those of you who DONT know who the adorable Mike Piazza is I wanted to attach a pix but you need a college degree to figure out how to do it on this dang board.........sorry.......I dont know if it worked but ..here goes

I'm not a huge baseball fan but I do know who Mike Piazza is. The last game I went to at Miller Park the Mets were playing the Brewers. I like all the women were glued to the Jumbo Tron watching the picture of Mikes and his stats. Mike always reminded me of Freddie and boy could he swing a bat! ;)

I don't know much about sports but Miike does being a baseball, football & basketball nut.

I did see a coupla things that reminded me of Freddie this week. The other nite in Walmart I saw a magazine called Looking Good & I could just hear in my mind Freddie saying it. The other day my hubby & I were watching one of our Dukes Of Hazzard dvd's & the narrator (Played by Waylon Jennings) says get out your can here comes the garbage man. Louies old line. :)

Cheryl I saw that dukes of hazzard episode! and one of the girls in my day care has a BRATZ doll backpack for school and across the top of it it says Loooking Goood!
I think of him whenever she is at my house after school.

Yesterday when Mike & I went shopping in Richmond, I saw a billboard along the side of the road that was written in spanish. I dunno what it said but it reminded me of Freddie... :)

this isn't exactly a direct reminder of Freddie, in church there is a man who usually sits in the row ahead of us who reminds me of Isaac Ruiz in the pictures Suz shared with us of her trip to meet with him. and since he reminds me of Isaac i always naturally think of Freddie too

Everytime I see the bobbing head doggie in my car it reminds me of Freddie. Or whenever I see anything that has a bobbing head it reminds me of him.

This is too weird. While on here I had the news on. Suddenly they had a feature on there on an image of the Virgin Mary that has sown up on an underpass in somewhere like Chicago. They said folks thought it looked like the Virgin of Guadalupe. A Virgin of Guadalupe mention while on here? Gave me the chills...

OMG coincidence, Cheryl! My seven year old daughter brought home a poetry book from school yesterday that had a picture in it of candles in glass jars with images of the Virgin Mary on them. The one on the right was Guadalupe!

We hear you Freddie... We love you and we will never forget you.

Last nite I saw something that reminded me of Freddie even tho it wasn't really Freddie related. Ya'll might remember that pic of Johnny Depp as a pirate that Luckymama had as her avatar on here for awhile. Well I was looking at some magazine last nite in a bookstore & that pic of Johnny Depp was in it. It reminded me of Freddie & Luckymama too. :) :)

& Then later last nite I heard the Spinners 70's song "Could It be I'm Falling In Love' on the local oldies station. That reminded me of Freddie cuz he liked the Spinners & I bet he liked that song... :)

I dont know why..but the song Betcha By Golly Wow reminds me of Freddie...
I guess because its the MOTOWN sound and we all know he liked that....

LYRICS:
Theres a spark of magic in your eyes
Candy land appears each time you smile
Never knew that fairy tales came true
But they come true...when I'm near you

Your a genie in disguiese....full of wonder and surprise
Betcha by golly wow....your the one that Ive been waiting for forever...
and ever will my love for you...keep growing strong..........

Welcome back! Yeah we missed you & the others who haven't been here in awhile. Hope they're all doing well. It'd be fun to get together with you again this summer. In May we go to see Arlo Guthrie in Bethesda, MD & also go to Nags Head, NC for a week. July is our trip to visit Mikes sister in Ohio. Aug 17 we're going to go see Arlo in Alexandria , VA. That might be something ya'll would be interested in. & In Oct is the reunion in KY. Anway it'd be fun to get together with ya sometime this summer. It's fun being around someone who loves Freddie. :)

We will have to see. I dunno if we will have much money to do much this summer, with one in college! Plus this is our 25th wedding anniversary summer and my hubby's 50th birthday! Oh Boy!

BTW I was watching something on the Discovery Channel yesterday about the supposed origins of Christopher Columbus "Columbus: Secrets from the Grave"... some people speculate he wasn't from Genoa, Italy. Anyway, these people have pretty good evidence that he was not an Italian, but a Catalan. At the time of Columbus, there was no formal country of Spain but Spain, like Italy, was just a series of city states. Barcelona, the capital of the region known as Catalonia, is supposed to be the real birthplace of Columbus, if you believe these historians. They were at war with the regions that the king of Aragon (Ferdinand) and the queen of Castile (Isabelle) were from before Columbus came to their court seeking funding for his adventures. The historians give this as a reason for his hiding his place of origin, that he was a part of the mercenary forces fighting against Castile and Aragon, and give his writings, all done in Spanish, and a Catalan dialect, as the proof of their claim. Anyway, whether you believe this or not, the point that I was going to make was the fact that they were talking about Catalan a lot and everytime the narrator of the program or one of the experts mentioned it, I thought of the second Aunt Connie episode. Her friend was from this region, and a count of the region to boot. So everytime I heard the word "Catalan" I thought of this episode and of Freddie! :D

If you want to know more about the show follow this link Columbus: Secrets from the Grave (http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/columbus/columbus.html)

Wow, didn't know all that about Columbus. I could see that being a history lesson for your students. & Watching the Count Catalon ep of CATM earns you extra credit. :D

This is too funny. My hubby Mike was in the other room watching tv & a Chicos ad comes on. He came & told me the ad was on & said they must've named the store after Freddie Prinzes character in CATM. :) LOL! He's been around me too much! ;)

I love it! Im glad its not JUST ME that sees and feels these little "reminders".... Im not nuts after all... hehe

So as I am writing this post, a commercial comes on for MYLANTA and the background music is the theme from Welcome Back Kotter.... and I know its just because the shows where aired in the same time period when I was growing up..but it IMMEDIATELY brought a tear to my eye because I thought of our beloved Freddie.

You are always in our  Freddie....

Yesterday I heard on one of the oldies station this song by Carlos Santana that reminds me of Freddie. I think it's called "I Ain't Got Nobody" or something like that. It has words in it about I ain't got nobody I can depend on. I told Mike, that sounds just like Freddie. I bet he felt that way...

Boy did I get another reminder from Freddie yesterday. I was watching the 10 pm news on ch 35 & when the weather ended I went & flipped channels. I tuned into ch 8 ABC & a news program was on. They said on there they were gonna have George Lopez on there after the commercials. So I watched it. It was the one Laz mentioned. They featured his kidney operation. he teard like Freddie would've done. They showed an old high school pic of him & he kinda reminded me of Freddie. Well they talked about how he was influenced by Freddie & they showed a clip from CATM. It was from th4e ep where Chico wears yellow coveralls. :) I was so excited to see him on there. :) Funny how I changed channels just before G-Lo came on there. ;)

And the day before when they had the weather on one of the local channels after the weatherman finished, the male news reporter said to him, Looking Good! :) & Tues when we went to the mall I saw 2 reminders in a record store. First I saw a Selena dvd. Then a coupla minutes later I saw a dvd with Shelley Winters in it. Earlier when in a cellphone store I saw a cellphone poster in Spanish. When I saw it it reminded me of Freddie. Since he loved to talk on the phone I thought about how if he were here he'd probably have a cellphone. :)

On mash the other night they had a two part episode where a USO troup came to entertain and the commedian was fast Freddie....he was nowhere near good looking much less handsome and he was far from funny but just the fact that he was a comedian and his name was Freddie reminded me of our main man

Anzd she said Looking Good like Freddie did. I went Oh my God Freddie Prinze lol. He's so cute! Then tonite was I watching a Sanford & Son ep on TVLAND & one of the guest stars on there, I think he was in a CATM episode. I forget which one tho...

so I'm listening to my soaps on my TV sound radio..... and there is an actress in one of them PLAYING AN ACTRESS (Talk about redundant...hehe...I'm not a Doctor but I play one on TV... lol....anyway....) ...she begins to recite Shakespear....the a scene and it closes..... Good night sweet prince......

and I just teared up.... as I am sure you all know, there is a closing scene in one of the episodes where Ed says this to Chico...... (not to mention the website by the same name)......

Maybe its just me, but I seem to find Freddie all around me.....

We love ya Freddie...

I have a few. I was in a store last nite & i heard a version (not Kiki Dee's origional but someone elses) of I Got The Music In Me which Freddie did on the Tony Orlando & Dawn Show. Reminded me of Freddie.

Also last nite I saw in a record store a book on Latinos on tv & in movies. It mentioned Freddie in it which a profile of him but no pic with it. There was a bw pic of him & Tony Orlando, one we've al seen alot, in it. I was upset tho that Mando wasn't listed in it. He should've been.

Then I saw a thing on TVLAND an hr or so ago on top 10 movie actors who started out on the small screen. They had on there Johnny Depp & showed a pic of him that was like one Luckymama was using for her avatar. & That reminded me of Freddie... Thanks to Luckymama Johnny Depp reminds me of Freddie... :) :D

Luckymama58
08-04-2005, 07:46 AM
Well Johnny has become another fav of mine these days. And I guess the reason is that Johnny draws you in with those large dark eyes of his, sorta like Freddie did with his. They have two different personalities, but they do seem to share those hypnotic eyes. I guess I am just a sucker for them! :D I also believe as versatile as Johnny Depp has become, Freddie had the same potential.

I was just watching an episode of M*A*S*H, called "Your Hit Parade" from 1978 and Ronny Graham did a guest spot in it. He played a drunk bomb disposal specialist who had the blood type needed to save a guy's life. He had been on R-n-R and came into camp loaded. He was so funny. He hated needles and kept fainting. It always makes me think of Freddie and the show when I see stuff the other cast members had been in.

Freddie is really reminding me. This is too weird. Sanford & Son is on & they mention Juilios goat Chico. Right after that comes on the ads & the ad that comes on is one with George Lopez in it. Too coincidental. Freddie is really reminding me... :)

Well.... apparently there is a DJ who is a CATM fan on the local Country Music radio station because Friday was the second time that I heard the clip on the ride home from work..... see.. on Friday at 5 pm they play a song call "Finally Friday" and they splice in all theres quote and clips...jokes....ONE of them is our Freddie saying "Loooooooking Good"! There is NO mistaking his voice! This very clip is the one that prompted me to start one of these posts because it was the beginning of a week-long list of reminders from Freddie.... and there it was AGAIN on Friday. Well, this morning, on the way TOO work, on that same radio station, I heard an announcement that the NFL kick-off would be hosted by Jr.

He is definately all around us! :)

When I see a good looking man with long hair, and you can see a hint of long, bushy sideburns when he shakes his head, that drives me wild and always reminds me of Freddie!

...In the end they showed some actual photos of ppl who had been patrons at the club.... I did see one of Steven Tyler.... I was looking but I didnt see Freddie...still I have a feeling HE MUST have gone there....it was like THE place to be back then.... and we all know he could dance!

:happyface This may sound silly, but if any of you watch All In The Family on a regular basis, watch the show where Archie has his surgery. The one I'm talking about is when he goes to the hospital and he sits in a waiting room with Edith before he goes to talk to Teresa (Liz Torres). While he's sitting in the waiting room, Edith tries to talk to him and he hands her a magazine. She notices it's a PlayGirl magazine and says maybe she should get another but naturally Archie just says "Read it!" She starts reading it or more importantly looking at the centerfold(Go Edith!;) ) Anyway, if you notice, the issue she's reading is the one that Freddie is in. That just always cracks me up!

I meant to post something on this thread a while ago....

About a month ago we had a guest priest at Mass and he had mentioned that the day previous (July 1st) had been the feast day of Blessed Junipero Serra (http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=401)and he was going on and on about him in his homily. I had a hard time concentrating on the homily, cause I was thinking all about the episode where they were going to tear down the garage, and Chico saved it by saying one of the walls was associated with Fr. Serra. Am I bad or what! LOL :D

BTW you can click on the link on his name to find out more about him!

I saw on the news tonight where Mike Douglas died at the ripe ole age of 81.
It showed some of the talent he had on his shows and I was hoping there would have been a glimpse of when Freddie co-hosted his show with him. It had a lot of then young stars like Jay Leno, John Travolta, and lots of 70's stars. No Freddie tho  That certainly got me to remembering Freddie after seeing all of that.

I know what you mean I had always loved his show when I was younger. I got to see it off and on occasionally. My mother always watched that show

Good luck with your daughter in college. Looks we were near the same place close to each other as I stayed in Huntington, WV overnite the nite before last. I bet she goes to Marshall. So sorry to hear about Mike Douglas...

Mike Douglas was an icon in the talk show industry, I remember so many of his shows. He always seemed to be comfortable with just about anyone who was on his show. I still remember the interview he did with John Lennon and Yoko Ono.... it could have been tense, but he made it look so easy....

We will miss you Mike. Thanks for having Freddie on your show.

My husband and I with some of our friends went to see "Hollywoodland" last night at the movie theater. As some of you know, this is a speculation film noir about the death of George Reeves... the TV Superman of the 1950's.

In the movie Adrien Brody plays a two bit PI named Louis Simo who is asked to look into the verdict of suicide. There are those who believe it might not have been. The movie doesn't do a bad job with all the speculation... I have read books on the subject.

Anyway, right after Simo is asked to look into it, he goes to visit his son, who is about 10. His ex-wife tells him that Evan is in the back yard and has been very dispondant of late. They find Evan in the back yard throwing stones at things. Simo asks his ex why the boy is like this, and she said he had been like this ever since the news that Superman killed himself. Simo wants to dismiss this reason, it was only a character in a show, but she tells him that all the kids in the neighborhood are like this.

I couldn't help thinking back to Jan of 1977 and how I felt when I heard the news of Freddie's death... and also got a sense of how all Freddie's fans were feeling at the time. It was like the way these kids reacted to the news of George's death. Call me weird, but I see so many parallels in stories of stars who also died too young or with a cloud of mystery or dispondancy around them.

One of the other parallels I saw in the movie was the way they contrasted the clean cut public persona of George with his real private life. It made me speculate about the same with Freddie. And like Freddie, George struggled with being type cast in a TV role as he tried desperately to break into movies.....

BTW for those who are considering seeing this movie, it was pretty good. I would recommend seeing it on DVD, I am not sure it was worth the $7.50 to see it in the theater... I would recommend renting it, especially if you are into Hollywood mysteries like I am. I will warn you, it isn't a happy movie, even tho they do a good job presenting the story....
