911 dispatcher offers to shoot caller's daughter

WATAUGA, Texas (WFAA ABC 8) - A Watauga 911 dispatcher says he now regrets his "joke," but that apology is insufficient for the distraught mother who was at the other end of her emergency call.

Here is a transcript of the call made recently to dispatcher Mike Forbess by a woman who found her daughters fighting.

CALLER: "The 12 year old is completely out of control, and I can't, I physically... she's as big as I am... I physically can't control her."

FORBESS: "Okay. Did you want us to come over and shoot her? Are you there?"

CALLER: "Excuse me?"

FORBESS: "That's a joke."

Forbess was reprimanded for his response to the woman.

The caller is filing a formal complaint.

Yeah I heard about that on the news last night. Only in Texas. In some ways I understand where he's coming from. It's one thing if the 12 year old has a gun or knife or something. Hell, my cousin called 911 once because her mom yelled at her. The cops came out and chewed my cousin a new one.

Yeah - I've flopped there a couple of times myself. Much tougher audiences that Yuk-Yuk's!!

That does sound creepy. I can't believe a 911 operator would even say something like that. The 911 operator should have gotten fired for that. At least the woman who called sounds like she knew that shooting her daughter wasn't the right form of punishment or restraint. God, some people can really say some stupid stuff.

i would of said that two if someone called for that riduclous of a reasin...ill be damnded the day i have to call 911 cause i cant control my kid :rolleyes:
