Since Dorothy was my favorite I never watched The Golden Palace except for two or three episodes. Was this show any good? Was it cancelled unfairly, or did it just stink? I don't think I've never heard of the show getting syndicated. I'm sort of surprised it isn't included with the GG reruns on Lifetime. Who all actually liked The Palace?

I've seen all the episodes and I can safely say that something is missing. Without Dorothy, and the addition of 3 new characters, the magic was gone. The episode where Dorothy returns was the closest thing I saw to a good episode, and I still have many, many, many problems with that one.

The show can't match the calibre of The Golden Girls but I still think it was a funny show. I think it had its strengths and simply suffered in the ratings from the poor timeslot. Friday nights are dead end nights as far as ratings go. Most of the TV public are either going out or they're home watching sports. It's a tough night to pull off if you're looking for a steady audience for TV comedies. The same is said of Saturdays.
I'm not saying the show was perfect. I didn't much care for some of the additional characters, which made some of the episodes a bit aimless, but I do think the show deserved to last a few seasons. It's definitely of a higher calibre than some of the crap that's out today, especially the blasted reality shows. I'd watch The Golden Palace over Survivor anyday!
