After "Munsters#1" "original episode orders" post I re-watched the beginning episodes and I have a theory as to which episodes were filmed first. Photos shown are as episodes aired. Observe the following details, Grandpa nose and widows peak along with Lily white hair streaks and necklace. As you see in the episode "My Fair Munster" Grandpa has the LONG nose extension (as seen in the color pilot), and he had a widows peak (not in the pilot), thus based on the nose this might have been the first episode filmed. It seems a logical progression from the pilot to the first filmed episode to use the existing make-up appliances. If "Pikes Pique" was first then why no nose extension, only to use it again in the next episode (MFM) and then abandon it all together afterwords? Also notice that in episodes "My Fair Munster" and "Piques Pique" Lily's wears 2 different style necklaces (not the bat one) and she has a stark large white hair streaks front and back. Episode filmed #2 probably was "Pikes Pique" because now Grandpa's nose is short, (as it remains throughout the series), but he no longer wears the widows peak? Maybe just a make-up adjustment change, for an easier and quicker make-up schedule. Lily's necklace again is a different style and her white streak is still pronounced. Next probably was "Munster Masquerade" Grandpa looks the same but Lily now wears her normal bat necklace. After these 3 episodes they have their normal look, with Grandpa back to the widow's peak (probably decided it looked better) and Lily's hair streaks becoming less pronounced. What do you think? So they reshot a few scenes and aired it as episode 2. But was really the fifth episode put together.

I know, it's all very confusing. :crazy:

BTW: How do you get your JPGs to look so good? When I save mine, they get all watermarked.

To add further confusion, there seem to be two versions of episode two (with at least a slight difference). In one, after the Raven tells Herman the time, the clock makes a big chiming noise (as it does in the De Carlo/Patrick CBS pilot). In another (this one is on the DVD), the noise of Herman breaking his pocketwatch is heard.

MY GOD!!! What are there, 20 different Pilots? :confused:

As I mentioned on a previous thread, on one of the Munsters Lost Pilot tapes, there's a cut of the Yvonne DeCarlo pilot with a different, creepy music score and alternate takes of scenes and unused dialog. The laboratory scene with Grandpa is a completely different take altogether.

A friend of mine who lives in Canada, is a reviewer for an online DVD site. He sent me The Munsters ~ Family of Fright DVD. The first pilot on the disc is in color but only for like 3 minutes. Then transitions into B&W. The second pilot is totally in B&W with Joan Marshall and Happy Derrman. The third pilot is with Yvonne De Carlo and Butch Patrick, and stops while Grandpa is in the lab making Marilyn a potion.

Laugh30, yes I used my computer to capture the images from the color pilot/presentation from DVD. It's much better than getting them from video!
