Well,

I had two disk sets from Best Buy where the beginning episode on disk 3 "Father of the Year" would intermittently freeze up. I didn't check out disk 4, or the rest of Disk 3, but assumed it was the case of Best Buy getting a bad shipment. My next approach is to order from another store. If that disk is bad, I am going to contact Paramount and find out if they have had a rash of defective disks.

No one on the boards other than me has reported any problems with the disks. The episode quality is very good for a 35 year old show, although the opening sequence is not as clear as it should be. There are two bonuses, one is a commentary by Sherwood Schwartz, "Coming Together Under One Roof" that talks about the history of the show. There are also a few select episodes where you can hear voice-over commentary by some of the Brady kids about the episodes if you choose this option from the menu.

The episodes are complete and uncut. They are presented in original PRODUCTION order (not airdate order.) However, a brief episode summery and original airdate are included in the set. Restored footage seemed to vary from episode to episode, but in general, you have about 2-3 minutes of footage that is not seen on TV Land or syndicated prints.

If I could just get a complete working set!!! Damn!! But, I would certainly recommend the set. I just wouldn't get it from Best Buy. Although I am sure it is just the local Best Buy where I live! The stories seem to be more "moving." It's cool not having to have cut scenes or commercials!

Pick it up!

Actually the eps are on the disks in airdate, not production, order. The longest gap between production and air for an ep (in airdate order, not elapsed time, which instead would probably be "The Honeymoon") was "The Grass is Always Greener", which was the 8th ep filmed but was the 2nd to last ep originally aired that season.

Guys,

I've been so busy finishing up watching my Gilligan's Island and Green Acres DVD's that I still haven't gotten around to ordering (third copy) my Brady Bunch Season 1 DVD set. Recall that I had two sets with disk 3 problems. Both were from Best Buy. I was going to order from another local store (i.e Target.) But, it had been suggested that if this was a local distributor problem that Paramount could have shipped 1000 buggy disks to my local area and 250 went to Best Buy, 200 went to Target, 150 went to Walmart and so on. If I order from outside the local area, I think I have a better chance of getting a working set. When I have time, I am just going to get it from Amazon.

Any Brady fan would love this DVD. I love the commentaries and of course all the episodes are great as usual. Can't wait for season 2!
