I don't know if there has been a thread about this before.....

Some of mine:

The Color Purple--when they're all at the dinner table and Celie tells Albert that she's leaving him and going with Shug. Then Sophia comes out of her depression. I still laugh when she tells Albert's father, "Shut up, you old fool", then she says "Pass me them peas"!

Tootsie--when John Van Horn is chasing "Dorothy" in the apartment and Jeff walks in on them. After John leaves, Jeff says to Dorothy, "You slut"!

When Harry Met Sally--Harry's speech to Sally at the New Year's party near the end of the movie

Wizard of Oz--when Dorothy tells Scarecrow "I think I'll miss you most of all".

Gone With the Wind--when the Yankee shows up at Tara and Scarlett shoots him in the face. I don't know why I like that scene. Weird.

My Cousin Vinny--when Lisa is on the stand and refuses to testify. Vinny wants to name Lisa as a hostile witness. The judge finds out the Lisa is Vinny's fiancee and the judge says "Well, that would explain the hostility".

And there are so many more.

And yours?

One that comes to my mind right away is at the end of Die Hard. The scene where Hans Gruber is falling from the skyscraper. That was awesome.

Back to the Future I - all scenes are great, but I've got to pick the one where Marty goes back to the future and Doc is hanging from the clocktower - and then later on when the clocktower gets struck by lightning.

Back to the Future II - Again, I love all the scenes, but my favourite is the end when Marty rushed to find 1955 Doc and tells him "I'm back, Doc, I'm back from the future" and 1955 Doc faints.

Back to the Future III - A third time, I love all the scenes - but my favourite is when Doc screams after taking the "wake up juice." Docc Brown is a master of screams and hilarious facial expressions.

Tootsie - When "Dorothy" reveals that she is a man by taking off her disguise live on air.

Mrs. Doubtfire - When Mrs. Doubtfire leaps and sprints across the restaurant to save "her" wife's boyfriend's life.

Home Alone 1 - The scenes with Harry and Marv getting caught up in all the booby traps.

Home Alone 2 - The scene where Kevin plays the video in his room and makes the hotel staff believe there is a man in there with a gun, and the scenes where Harry and Marv again get caught up in the booby traps.

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World - I'm not sure I can choose, there are loads. But I do particularly like the bit where the men are all swinging on that big crane (I think it's a crane - and I like the scene where the whole gang is rushing around looking for the "big W" and they're running right in front of it and they don't even notice it for ages! :)

Double post here, but I had to mention these after seeing "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest."

Okay...from One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, I think the best scenes (in no particular order) are:

1: The scene where McMurphy smuggles the patients out of the hospital and takes them into the bus - and then when he picks up the airhead Candy, and she says to them, "So...you're all crazy?" and Cheswick nods.

2: The fishing scenes with McMurphy and the patients.

3: The basketball game that McMurphy plays with the patients.

4: The scene where the patients are all cheering at the blank TV screen.

5: The scene where the patients, McMurphy, and one of the workers, Turkel, are hiding from the supervisor in the office.

6: The party scene, and then in the morning when Nurse Ratched arrives to find all the patients lying on the floor, the whole place a tip.

7: The ending scenes...very saddening...

I like the scene at the end of Dirty Dancing where they get up and do their
big dance number.

In Vertigo the scene where Jimmy Stewart is chasing her up those stairs and then sees her fall past the window is really good too.

My fav scene:

When the convicts take over the plane in Con Air and are dancing to Sweet Home Alabama...Steve Bucemi's (sp) character says, "Define irony: Group of idiots dancing on a plane to a song made famous by a band that was killed in a plane crash."

Also in Con Air, when Nic Cage is facing off in the cargo hold and he says, "Put the Bunny back in the box." Then at the end (***SPOILER***,)

he gives this pathetic, mangled bunny to his daughter!

How cheesy: In the Little Mermaid, when she says, "I love you Daddy," and kisses his check, I bawl like a baby!

These are my faves too!!

Sixteen Candles: I liked the interaction between Molly Ringwald and her brother discussing the sleeping arrangements, as both sets of Grandparents come for their Sister's wedding. The brother says, "what the hell are you bitching about, I have to sleep under some Chinaman named after a duck's dork". Molly: Where am I suppose to sleep? Brother: "Sopha City, Sweetheart".

Sixteen Candles: The Mom to her son; "Mike don't be a smartass". The son; "Okay, I'll be a dumb ass". LOL

The Breakfast Club: The scene where the delingquent discribes what life would be like at Brian's house, and he goes on to do a funny immitation.

Stand By Me: The scene where the guys are walking down the railroad and they hear the train coming, they run and the fat kid is crying at the same time.

50 First Dates: The scene where Adam Sandler is pretending to get beaten up and Drew beats the heck out of Schneider, he runs and she screams at him, You better keep running. She is following him and hitting him with a baseball bat.

As Good As It Gets(My favorite movie of all time!) At the end of the movie when Melvin tells Carol that she's the greatest woman alive and makes a little speech about it, then he tells her he's going to grab her and they kiss.

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest The basketball game and the scene where McMurphy first comes to the hospital.

Heartburn The scene when they're first baby is born and the scene when they get back together after Rachel had been robbed.

Pretty Woman The scene when Vivan goes back to the store where the ladies where rude to her and they're stunned to see her in nice clothes. The end when Edward climbs the fire escape to "rescue" Vivian.

Boyz n the hood: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_uOuC80PnYWhen doughboy avenges his brothers death which is the drive by where he gets out of the car and personally finishes the job.And after has a deep conversation with Trey. That scene was so emotional.

Rocky IV:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htKpqgaPD9E The scene where Rocky is having flashbacks after apollos death while driving. I think this is probably the best scene ever in a movie.

Scarface:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGG-3wH664QThe shootout the last scene of scarface.

In fact, I just saw one of my favorites on A&E a few minutes ago. In
A Few Good Men. Lt. Caffey (Tom Cruise) puts Col. Nathan Jessup (Jack Nicholson) on the stand. "Did you order the Code Red on Santiago"? "You're damn right I did!" Some great courtroom dialogue.

(Sharop, I love the Home Alone movies, too. Joe Pesci is one of my favorite actors. I liked him in 'My Cousin Vinny'--one of my favorite movies--and, not one of his bigger roles, has a brief appearance toward the end of 'A Bronx Tale'.)

(It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World--made me laugh so hard--and had many, many well-known stars assembled together for the cast.)

There are two standout scenes from one of my favorite movies, The Days of Wine and Roses. The first is when Jack Lemmon's character is drunk out of his mind, and he can't remember in which planter he hid his bottle of booze. It's in his father-in-law's greenhouse. His frustration grows as he tears up just about the entire greenhouse. Great piece of acting.

The final scene from that movie breaks me up every time I see it. Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick in his apartment. He gave up the booze, but she's still hooked. I can cry just thinking of that scene. Anyone who has seen the movie knows what I'm talking about.

In the movie, Unfaithful....the scene where Richard Gere confronts his wife's lover. I almost fell off my chair the first time I saw it.

The Remains of The Day....the farewell scene at the end between Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson. So sad.
