View Full Version : What grades do/did you get in school?
G-Force Glockstar 04-10-2005, 04:49 PM I've always wanted to be a straight A student, but sadly I've never been that smart :(
Anyway, I get each and every grade their is, mostly bad grades :(
This year I've been getting alot of B's and C's in language, more A's in math (even though I failed math twice this year), A's and B's in Social Studies, B's and C's in Science, and A's in my related arts class.
How about you?
G-Force Glockstar 04-10-2005, 04:50 PM I also think that if I got better grades at school, I wouldn't hate school as much.....
EmoJoe 04-10-2005, 04:50 PM As and Bs. The lowest grade i've ever gotten (on my report card) is a B-
This year the lowest grade i've gotten is an F on a math quiz. I'm not the best at Math. That was the subject I got a B- in...I think it was last year.
EmoJoe 04-10-2005, 04:50 PM I also think that if I got better grades at school, I wouldn't hate school as much.....
Nah, I get good grades and I still hate it
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 04-10-2005, 04:59 PM Math...um...last report card I got a 59  but usually it's 70-80ish. Last she wrote down it was 81...chem...mid 80s, but only because I do my work and I get credit for that...I fail like every ****ing test...Low 90s for everthing else cept Art and English I have 95's in.

Well, you seem smart......and I'm jealous of smart people :grr:
G-Force Glockstar 04-10-2005, 05:02 PM Nah, I get good grades and I still hate it
Yeah, but at least you don't have to worry about the work being hard all the time (like I do) or go to Sylvan Learning Center like I do just because I got an F in math. But now I'm getting more A's, and trying harder in math.
I got a C+ on my last math test. I was kinda disappointed cause I tried so hard, but my family was proud.
G-Force Glockstar 04-10-2005, 05:04 PM I got lots of F's on my report card in 5th grade.....then in 7th grade I got an F on my report card for math :(
Other than that, I've gotten most A's and B's on my report card. Sometimes C's and one time a D.
I did fairly well when I was in School. I don't remember how I did when I was young but I managed to get through High School and College with a B to B+ average.
Brian 04-10-2005, 05:08 PM In the first semester of my senior year in high school I had a 3.80 GPA. I got straight A's the next semester.
Now in college I have a 3.09 GPA.
G-Force Glockstar 04-10-2005, 05:08 PM Sometimes I don't think I will get my HS diploma :(
Most people say I will.....but I really have strong doubts.
After all, you can get a job without a HS diploma :(
Some people (like Carrie Underwood, my Dad, my Grandma) are lucky and graduate when they are only 17!

Great, I don't think I could do that
G-Force Glockstar 04-10-2005, 05:10 PM My parents and teachers tell me I'm really smart, but I really don't think so.
I'm actually pretty dumb :p
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 04-10-2005, 05:13 PM Well, you seem smart......and I'm jealous of smart people :grr:
Me, too. I ****ing HATE smart people. And it's not so much that they're smarter than us, it's just the way teachers teach...some kids are able to get it better, or we think differently and don't comprehend things the same. Plus, it's so hard for me to concentrate. I do get good grades, but I could get better. All of my friends are smarter than me and I'm sick of feeling like the dumb one.

I agree, only I don't "hate" smart people, I'm just really jealous of them and wish I could be like them.
I'm hearing aparied which may be one reason why I don't get better grades.....cause you know I don't hear everything. But I guess I can't really say that because I have another deaf friend who gets better grades than me quite a bit.
G-Force Glockstar 04-10-2005, 05:17 PM Actually, the only smart people I hate are my sisters who get all A's and B's in school.
EmoJoe 04-10-2005, 05:18 PM Yeah, but at least you don't have to worry about the work being hard all the time (like I do) or go to Sylvan Learning Center like I do just because I got an F in math. But now I'm getting more A's, and trying harder in math.

I got a B on my last math test ;) I thought I would get like a D though
EmoJoe 04-10-2005, 05:20 PM Well, you seem smart......and I'm jealous of smart people :grr:
Yeah..but your parents also expect more out of you if you're smart...like my parents flip out if I get a B. Which I get a lot in Math
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 04-10-2005, 05:22 PM I agree, only I don't "hate" smart people, I'm just really jealous of them and wish I could be like them.

Rhiannon 04-10-2005, 05:37 PM I usually get A's and B's but in my physics and precalculus classes I have D's. Math is very hard for me.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 04-10-2005, 05:40 PM Yes, but I want all A's :D
Who doesn't. I think the kids who get the best grades in school are never the artistic people, but the technical people mainly because the way we are taught isn't geared towards these types of people. I doubt you're dumb, it's just the way we think and the way things are taught.
G-Force Glockstar 04-10-2005, 05:41 PM I usually get A's and B's but in my physics and precalculus classes I have D's. Math is very hard for me.
Math is pretty much the only subject I suck at.

I graduated high school at 17, too...I was three months away from turning 18. A lot of people who graduate high school at 17 usually have birthdays in the summertime.
You WILL get your diploma! :)
Anyway, I was a pretty average student in school. I got a 3.5 or better GPA in HS, and it's been like that in college too.
vienna waits 04-10-2005, 05:42 PM A's this years. Some B's in my past. I vow to not care about grades next year in college though. I concentrate way more on my grades than I do on just learning. It really should be the other way around because, contrary to popular belief, people who get all A's are NOT always that smart. I mostly just memorize everything.
G-Force Glockstar 04-10-2005, 05:43 PM I think the kids who get the best grades in school are never the artistic people, but the technical people mainly because the way we are taught isn't geared towards these types of people.
What do you mean?
EmoJoe 04-10-2005, 05:43 PM Math is pretty much the only subject I suck at.
Same here  Although i'm not great at Science either...but I get better grades in Science than Math
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 04-10-2005, 05:44 PM What do you mean?
Learning is basically just a bunch of memorizing and details. Creative people are thinkers...it just doesn't seem to mix to me. I don't know. I could be full of it

yeah, I hate thinking. I'd rather memorize something. Lucky for me, 90% of high school has been that way.

I don't know if you remember, but I told you once last year I am also hearing impaired. What you said is not true...You can do just as well as everybody else. You have to give it your all and show that you really want to learn. Good luck!
Rhiannon 04-10-2005, 05:59 PM Who doesn't. I agree. Also, I think a lot of science classes are taught to favor guys, not girls. I'm not saying this to make anyone mad, but my physics teacher is a mas and the examples and labs we do in his class involve crap like machines or putting stuff together. He often talks about crashing things or blowing things up and he even frequently mentions that "ladies you might not care about this" or "i bet the girls wont have fun doing this lab" so I mean there really is nothing I can do about this class except try to get through it.
Michael [hXc] 04-10-2005, 06:09 PM i'm serious about this: I always get straight A's. It's not easy though and it takes A LOT of work. my mom flips out if i get a B (even a B+) because she says if i do i'm not working to my potential. but it's not easy and you'll have to give it all you've got, and more. just try your hardest and keep trying and you will do well. :)
David 04-10-2005, 06:33 PM in freshman year, i went to a regular public school and got a 4.120, but then soph. year i went to a magnet school, which is a more advanced school, and by the end of senior year, my GPA was a 3.64 >_<. However, my parents were just focused on the rankings, and I was #21 out of 421, so I guess it's not too bad.

Those expectations your mother has for you are way too high.

she says because i'm exceptionally smart (i don't think i am) if i get anything less than A- then i'm not trying my best.

And yeah I guess it doesn't matter who you are.....you can still be great at it :D

Oh yeah, I remember you telling me that. You're very smart too :)
If my kid was a straight A student and they got a B, I wouldn't be mad I'd just tell them to try harder next time.
G-Force Glockstar 04-10-2005, 07:34 PM she says because i'm exceptionally smart (i don't think i am) if i get anything less than A- then i'm not trying my best.
Anyone that gets straight A's is exceptionally smart :D
Aww, that's not true what you Mom said....a B+ is really good especially if you've given it your hardest.
dawsongirl 04-10-2005, 10:38 PM I graduated with a 3.95 GPA in HS...and that was thanks to a lousy class on careers. And thankfully gym and choir didn't count in the GPA. I got A's in everything else.
I graduated college with a 3.1. And that was some sort of miracle, but I got a few C's in there.
CollegeDropout 04-10-2005, 10:51 PM I dont know what my GPA is because my hs is weird because we do it out of 5 and so for college stuff, we have to convert on to a 4 pt scale, I get A's and B's in honors and AP classes. But my hs is so friggin competitive, esp. my grade, we have a very strong class and people are always like "whatd you get?" "Omg my parents will kill me if I dont make honor roll" and I hate to admit being raised in such a competitive suburban town its hard not to get wrapped on what you are getting and doing every extra credit possible. I dunno I must being doing something right in school because I got into some good colleges and going to BC in the fall:)
G-Force Glockstar 04-14-2005, 04:35 PM Hey guess what.....I'm actually doing better than I think, I think because my parents told me that my teachers said I'm doing great! I got all A's and B's except in Math, but I'm doing better now at it.
Sorry I just wanted to bring it up......I don't mean to brag
But I still don't feel totally smart, lol

your mom isn't going to be there to fight your battles forever. possibly he gave you the B+ because that's the grade you got. She shouldn't just expect him to round up your grade "just because." That's hardly fair to every other student.

O_O LUCKY.
i'm surprised i even have a 65. it's only because he gives credit for attempting assignments.
swedeace 04-14-2005, 11:22 PM I've never really had straight A's either. The closest was one time during my sixth grade year when I had six classes and had five A's and one B. That's so not me. I tend to do average in grades in required schooling and even in college.
The way I think of it - grades are just doing the assigned work, turning in stuff/projects on time, etc. What counts, in my opinion, is the knowledge you get out of the classes you are taking - the historical events, the writing/grammar, the social world, etc. Things you take with you later in life for careers, knowledge, socialization, and so on.
"Knowledge IS power!"
