Last night I had the privilage of seeing Christopher Guest, Harry Shearer and Michael McKeon perform at the Museum Of Modern Art (MOMA) here in Manhattan.

The museum has been running a retrospective of Guest's career (Spinal Tap, Waiting For Guffman, Mighty Wind, etc...) and last night he performed some of their songs from the movies with Shearer and McKeon, and they screened some movie clips and talked about the films.
They also took questions from the audience.
Bob Balaban, who has co-starred in many of Guest's films (he also had a recurring role on Seinfeld) served as thier "host" and moderator, setting up the clips and chatting with them about the movies.

It was a very funny and interesting night. These guys are truly some of the most talented folks in the movie business.

These guys are so great and underrated.

I just saw Spinal Tap last year, and it had to be the best movie I had seen all year, considering it was 20 years old.

You haven't lived until you've heard the acoustic version of "Hellhole."

Now that sounds like a fun evening TJL! I just love Christopher Guest's movies. Best In Show, A Mighty Wind....still have to see Spinal Tap. I've been watching Second City lately, and that group just kills me...Catherine O'Hara, Eugene Levy.

I like Fred Willard too, and Guest usually finds a good spot in his movies for him. Which character on Seinfeld did Bob Balaban portray?

Michael McKeon said that one of the pleasures of working with this group is to stand behind the camera and watch people perform - especially Fred Willard.

Bob Balaban played Russell Dalrymple, the NBC Executive who became obsessed with Elaine in multiple episodes.

Oh him, went nuts in the ocean.

Fred Willard had the funniest dialog as one of the Emcees in Best In Show. Funny, funny stuff. He's great. He does a lot of skits after Jay Leno's monolog. Plays a great drunk.

Awesome!!

This might be a silly question, but did you get to meet them?

And did they perform "Lick My Love Pump?":lol:

Still, to see all that would've been a very enjoyable evening for me, too!!
