View Full Version : What was it like the first time you tried alcohol? ~*Emma*~ 04-10-2005, 05:50 AM I tried alcohol for the first time tonight. Well, actually I just had a sip of my dads wine. But I thought it was DISGUSTING! What did everybody else think the first time they tried alcohol? Belair 04-10-2005, 06:51 AM I've never understood the big deal with alcohol.I started drinking when I was 16.It began with red wine at home,or whatever my parents were drinking, and then I started drinking spirits, which are still my alcohol choice when I drink now.I've never been drunk though, because I know my limit and I dont over do it ever. Most of the time I'd rather drink a coke! Alot of alcohol is acquired tastes, some people like it,some people dont.I dont like the taste of beer. Superstar 04-10-2005, 08:12 AM My parents let me have a tiny sip of their wine when I was younger. I'm not allowed anymore. SmartAznTiger 04-10-2005, 09:09 AM My parents were gonna let me to take a tiny sip, and I got close and smelled it and just couldn't drink it. Kay Scarpetta 04-10-2005, 10:38 AM Sips of my family's beer. Nasty, nasty, nasty. I don't know how people can drink beer. It tastes like ass. CollegeDropout 04-10-2005, 11:03 AM I am sure I had plenty of sips of beer when I was a kid, and champainge on new years, but the first time I drank without of my parents knowledge was freshman year with some kids from my hockey team and at this time, none of my friends drank. Then sophomore year, my varisty hockey team won the state title, so we got absolutley wreaked (oh and we had school the next day and we didnt stop drinking until like 3 am...that worked out well) Jr year, I was in this group of friends, who didnt really drink and we would just chill, and that was fine, until after our jr prom, we got smashed and my friend knocked over a grandfather clock...good thing someone sober was there to catch it. But this year, we drink a lot but we are responsible about it. We have designated drivers, and people take other peoples phones so that they cant drunk dial anyone, and when you are starting to get ******** people will make sure that you stop drinking, so we've had no real problems. I also drank a few times with my hockey team this season and it was a bonding experience but during all these times Ive drank, sure people get drunk but nothing has been broken or anything major cept one friend got in trouble for a party but when used in moderation, I think alcohal is fine, just take a look in my cloest draw, but like someone else said, you have to know your limit, like for me even though I drink i have a low tolerance, but I dont throw up, I just get drunk off of 4 shots (thats after eating at cheesecake factory) but like 2 normally. Sorry for writing a book, but I find the subject of and debate about alcohal fascinating, and not because I am an alcohalic or binge drinker, I just enjoy learning about it, and peoples presepctives and the actual truthes Heart Shaped Box 04-10-2005, 11:36 AM I had never drank any alcohol in my life. I think when I was younger, I smelled my mom's beer. It was probably Coors Light or something. But it smelled disgusting and I told myself that I would never drink that. I still don't know if it would be ok to drink wine just on special occasions, espiscally the wine I got when I was born. MaydayMalonesGirl 04-10-2005, 12:06 PM I've had lots of small sips of random types of alcohol growing up. It all tastes the same to me. My dad, mom, and sister all drink, though. I wish my dad didn't drink so much because his father died of alcoholism, and his sister is an alcoholic. So it runs in the family. -*Forever*- 04-10-2005, 12:36 PM Oh man, I have the best story ever. I don't think this was my first time - I think I had tried wine before and hated it - but Jacki and I were spending a weekend with her aunts. They rented these trailers over the summer, so they were sitting out on the porch and drinking beer. For some reason, we asked if we could try it, so they gave us this tiny bit in cups. So we're sitting at the table and we drank it and we like... spit it out cos it was so gross. So Jacki's like, "Let me put coke in mine! Maybe it'll taste better!!" So she pours like half a can of Coke in and then drinks it and she spits it all over and she's like, "GOD, that was even WORSE" so her aunts come in and we're like, "Heh... uhh... good times!!" and we went into the bedroom and listened to music  TripperFan 04-10-2005, 02:45 PM I've had lots of small sips of random types of alcohol growing up. It all tastes the same to me. My dad, mom, and sister all drink, though. I wish my dad didn't drink so much because his father died of alcoholism, and his sister is an alcoholic. So it runs in the family. Yeah me too. My dad was an alcoholic and I suspect both my brother's of having drinking problems (at least). I also have an addictive personality, but luckily (? - if you can say that) - I'm just hooked on cigarettes. I basically STOPPED drinking much by age 18 (yes - I know, still underage at that point). I think I was around 5 when my father gave me the first sip of rum and coke. By age 14, I was sneaking sips from my dad's liquor cabinet in the morning before going to school!! (NOT good)! I heard on the news around that time that alcoholism can be passed on, so it scared me enough to really watch it. Now, if I have one or two drinks I just get sleepy so I don't even bother. Georgia's on my Mind 04-10-2005, 09:09 PM i hate beer and wine, vodka is tolerable, i prefer mixed drinks and wine coolers. TJL 04-10-2005, 09:10 PM I was probably around 17 or 18, I was at a graduation party for a friend of my brother's. The alcohol was flowing pretty freely. I was drinking mixed drinks, like white russians, etc. I got drunk that night, but it wasn't messy, let's just say... ;) dawsongirl 04-10-2005, 09:26 PM I tried alcohol for the first time tonight. I aint a boozer! *slurs* crystals 04-11-2005, 03:01 AM I didn't care much for alcohol the first time I tasted it. I don't care much for the taste. I don't mind having some Bailey's or some wine or champagne once in awhile like at New Year's Eve or birthday parties of family members or friends. I haven't ever been really drunk on alcohol, the alcohol makes me tired more than anything. I tend to fall asleep if I have like even a small amount of it. I think I would be boring at a party if I ever were to go to one. I imagine everyone getting drunk and saying stupid stuff and I would be the one falling asleep. :sleep2: TheGreatPretender 04-11-2005, 07:43 PM I just had wine. I think I was twelve or something at my mom'm birthday. This Christmas when I was sitting at the table my uncle kept pouring wine into my glass and said "Just tell them it's ginger ale" I don't like it or hate it really. But I thought it was DISGUSTING! What did everybody else think the first time they tried alcohol?I also thought DISGUSTING!! How can anyone drink that stuff, its aweful tasting!!! Yong Fang 05-03-2023, 12:46 AM The first time I got drunk was August of 1985. I was 18 and at a small fraternity house. I remember it feeling so damn good and how free I felt. I remember literally running. This is Heaven. Within a few months I also started smoking cigarettes and marijuana. These things are like the story of Adam and Eve when they are the fruit and their eyes were open to the knowledge of good and evil. Especially alcohol and cigarettes. I sort of wish I never opened myself to that but here I am over 37 years later, drinking alcohol and smoking! I wish I could go back to high school where I never did these things. There were students (in the early 1980’s at a suburban high school) who openly announced that they are getting drunk this weekend. I basically knew where to score marijuana from which students if I wanted it. I think I rated away from it because I had controlling parents (especially my father) who kept tabs on me the best they can. Maybe if my father was out of the picture, I might have tried substances earlier since I wouldn’t have to worry about his reaction. But I spent the night a lot with friends and never got high/drunk. We had our fun that early 1980’s kids did, driving our cars, dating girls, the shopping mall, watching TV, playing pinball and video games. Our circle wasn’t into alcohol/weed/drugs until after high school. But even forty years ago, there were teens at my high school trotted off to the dreaded “Lakeside” for alcohol/substance abuse therapy. Everyone knew Lakeside even people who didn’t get intoxicated. My interest in high school was girls and sex. That’s what got me high. It was a way to scratch the itch until I discovered intoxicants and now there are two ways to scratch the itch! Lastly, I think in high school I knew I was too young to drink alcohol, I couldn’t really access it because of legality, my mother was a light drinker (like a vodka drink in the afternoon once a week) and my father rarely drank and if he did it was literally one beer. |
