I have to see Showgirls- I've heard so much about the hilariously bad acting, I've got to see it!

I suppose the only way I can explain having seen Xanadu 3 times is that it's so bad it's good!

IMO, "Showgirls" is the best worst movie of all-time. The acting, dance sequences, script, clothing, and even the sex scene are just all over the top!

It's a definate must-see.

I've this book on film censorship written just after Basic Instinct came out, narrowly avoiding an NC-17 rating, and just as the creators of Basic Instinct announced they're going to produce an NC-17 musical- 'Showgirls'! The writer oft he book says that Showgirls may be groundbreaking and help in pushing the boundaries of movie censorship- it's funny because for several pages Showgirls is referenced as something that if it is of good quality will make a case for what is acceptable. Bet the writer wishes he could rewrite the book!

^That's the reason "Showgirls" is seen as a huge bomb. People were expecting it to break the barriers associated with nudity and films geared towards adults in general.

"Showgirls" was the last big budget wide-release film to dare have the NC-17 rating, if it would have succeeded "NC-17" would have been as common as "R" is today. Ultra violent movies like "Kill Bill Vol. 1" and "The Passion of the Christ" would have been NC-17, and people wouldn't think twice of seeing them as they did with them being rated-R.

I read a similar article about "Showgirls" from an old issue of Rolling Stone.

"Road House" is one of my favorite bad movies.

I just saw "Alone In The Dark" with Christian Slater and Tara Reid. It was on the cusp of being so bad it was good, but not quite.

Battlefield Earth!!!

I knew it was a bad movie, so when I got around to watching it, I decided to watch it in the context of a campy sci-fi comic parody (think Spaceballs) and it was incredible... as a comedy. I laughed harder during the first 20 minutes than I've done at some movies actually meant to be funny.

Austin Powers in Goldmember. While its not the best movie, it IS the best because its so lame and so funny.
