In Come Back, Little Googie, Grandpa says, "All us Doughboys had our pin-up pictures." Doughboys were US soldiers in WWI. Does this mean Grandpa was in WWI?

Also, in Low-Cal Munster, Herman says he was in the war for four years. Is he talking about WWI, or WWII?
