Marie Barone takes the cake. I'd say Endora, but Marie is ALWAYS over there!

One TV mother who I hated was Sylvia Buchman, Paul Buchman's (Paul Reiser) Mom from "Mad About You." She was so mean to Helen Hunt's character.

The mom off of Arrested Development. She's annoying.

Marie Barone is DEFINITELY the most annoying TV mother. She is always over Raymond's favoring him and trying to be a control freak to him and Robert. There is more but im sure everyone gets what I am talking about.

I know that Marie is the most annoying but my second place is Judy Geller
for bad mother. It must have been hard for poor Monica , criticized for everything she did wrong. No wonder she is the control freak she is. Food was her addiction and she turned to it . Judy even forgets she has a second child, once told Rachel she was the daughter she never had. That is a pretty annoying mother , and Judy still finds fault even when her pride and joy can't stay married or get someone pregnant. At least Monica can stay in a marriage. So she is the second most annoying mother.

Clair Huxtable...I mean she was just portrayed a little too perfectly. She was a partner in a law firm, but yet had enough time to raise 5 children and be around enough to cook, clean, discipline, and make time for her husband.

I am kind of surprised that nobody mentioned Roseanne from Roseanne. I like the show because of Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Sarah Chalke, and John Goodman. I have never been fond of Roseanne herself. The way she treated her husband and kids, in my opinion, no mother should treat their kids the way she did. JMO.
I also have to agree with some of you on Marie Barone. She did favor one kid over another. She was always bragging to everyone about Raymond even in front of Robert who was obviously envious. How mean. She did make me laugh, though. Doris Roberts is a laugh a minute.
Yeah, I also agree about Endora, she was so mean to poor Darrin, and he was a great guy and a great husband and father. I think she always wanted Samantha with a warlock, not a mortal. She was funny though.

How about the mother on Malcolm In The Middle? It's a wonder that Malcolm is smart with a b**ch of a mother like her. :mad: All of her kids is going to need therapy!As for the comment on June Cleaver,I would rather have her as a mother than some of these retarted mothers that are out there today.

Carol Brady from The Brady Bunch, she was a waste of space.

I alway thought Lucy Richardo's mother was a bit condasending to Ricky. She always called him Mickey. She never seemed to know Lucy's last name. In one episode a letter addressed to Ethel from Mrs Mcguillicuddy for Mrs M didn't know Lucy's married name, was addressed Mickey Richardson. In another episode, the Hedda Hopper story she was annoying.

Roseanne and Claire Huxtable. I have always hated the show "Rosanne"--Roseanne was always shouting or swearing or just in a bad mood. But, then again, the perfect June Cleaver also got on my nerves...

I also close Claire (or Clair?) from "The Cosby Show," because she always, always seemed to be nagging her husband about having a diet, always wanted the kids to go away, and I just thought she was annoying..

Urkel_2003, I thought Edith was hilarious. :) Actually, I think she was the only TV mom that I really liked. LOL.

Peg Bundy.She complained about Al being nothing and having no money,yet she waisted all his money on junk

1. Lois on Malcolm in the Middle. She shows no love, respect or sympathy for any of her children, always yelling at them or punishing them. That's pretty much why I stopped watching the show. It's become a 30 minute power contest between Lois and the boys and why I sometimes refer to Fox as MPN, the Mutant Parent Network.

2. Marie Barone. She's meddlesome, overbearing, tactless and intrusive. She barges in to Ray and Debra's house whenever she wants and constantly criticizes Debra.

3. June Cleaver. She's nosy and overprotective, eavesdropping on the boys' phone calls and going through their belongings. The tip of the iceberg was the episode where Ward and June looked into Beaver's diary.

My guess is that Barbara Billingsley (as well as Jane Wyatt, Donna Reed, Dennis the Menace's TV Mom, etc) probably didn't have much input into the way they were portrayed on those classic old shows... she still did a fantastic job playing June Cleaver...

Phylicia Rashaad (or whatever her name is now) probably had a bit more of a say in the way her character was written... and she could have been the most annoying TV mom ever (well, Rosanne...)... Clair Huxtable was a bit too smug and snobbish for my taste...

Actually, I don't watch the "Gillmore Girls" show (my wife does) but the woman who plays the mother on Gilmore Girls is the most annoying CHARACTER on TV today, TV Mom or otherwise... (I refer to the "middle" of the three women...my understanding is that G Girls is about a girl, her Mom, and her Grandmother, 3 generations...I'm referring to the middle generation as being the most annoying character on TV today).

(Did anyone see the sketch they did on Saturday Night Live Weekend Update a few months back? - Maya Rudolph played Claire Huxtable in character and went on this big overly politically correct overliberating rant, and she nailed it, and the poor guy playing Cliff just sat there with his mouth open.)

Judy Geller from Friends is a horrible mother. Constantly puts Monica down and has Ross undeservingly on a pedistal where he can do no wrong.

Marie Barone is also really bad, especially to Robert and Debra.

How could we forget Rhoda Morgenstern's mom Ida?? If Marie Barone is the epitome of the smothering Catholic mother, Ida is the epitome of the smothering Jewish mother. No wonder Rhoda moved to Minneapolis in the first place...to get away from Ma!! :rofl:

Harriet Oleson is another smothering mom. I always felt sorry for poor Nels, having to listen to Harriet rant, rave and screech all day. :eek:
