I think music is definitely the reason for the delay. They're either in negotiations to get the original music or in the pathetic process of replacing it and rendering future sets a joke and a complete waste of time. I would never purchase a DVD set with replacement music. Shows like Happy Days, Miami Vice, The Wonder Years, and WKRP are not the same shows without their original music. So far, HD and MV have made it out unscathed. I wonder if it will continue.

I think we'll be lucky to get Season 2 of Happy Days with all of the original music and the same level of picture quality as the Season 1 set. They spent $1 million for the music for the S1 set. I don't know if it sold that well either. They hardly promoted it. A wise move would have been heavy promotion during the Reunion show and during other programming.

Paramount is now mentioning increased marketing, a faster release schedule, and a lower price on future TV on DVD sets. I don't find that encouraging in terms of seeing another huge cash outlay on music for Season 2, especially if S1 sales weren't off the charts. Replacing music on this show would make future DVD sets of it a waste of time, in my opinion.

I also don't understand a desire to see a lower price. S1 was more than cheap enough. The lower the price, the lower the possibility of getting remastered, uncut episodes and original music.

... season 1 could've had a slightly lower LP, simply because we only got 16 episodes, and no special features or elaborate menus.

but i still bought it and still love Happy Days.

Considering Paramount's track record, I don't think we'll see any special features on the next set either. I'm betting the menus will be the same too.

As for price, MacGyver was roughly the same price in stores that Happy Days was, but with a full season of episodes. I think S2 of HD will stay in the same price range. Paramount seems to be staying in that range for almost everything. Hogan's Heroes has 32 episodes on the S1 set and it's going for under $35 at Best Buy. Paramount claims they want to go lower. I'm not encouraged by that.

I'm a big Happy Days fan too and I was very happy with the Season 1 set. Music is an important part of this series so I hope this delay is the result of negotiations with the rights holders and not the result of replacing the music.

It has been 7 months since the 1st season came out. They need to hurry up and release it. I want to get all the seasons because I love this show. Even though I have all of them on tape.
