Nobody's been talking about season five! Lets start an official Season Five Thread! Extras anyone????????? Whats the deal? No official announcement on extras yet! Whats your take on this? Will it have extras or not like in the case of season four. I think it was EXTREMELY PECULIAR to have extras on S1-3 and then deny us of extras for season four. We should start a petition for extras! What do you think?

PS- This is my 4th post on SO, 1st on this particular board!
I've been observing all your chats though for over a year, and you're all great! Its gonna be great working with people with such great energy as you!

Am I right in thinking the Cheers Season Five date is May 17th?

I'm getting a little ahead of myself here - season four of Cheers (and Frasier)won't even be released in the UK until July 11th. It was supposed to be out on March 28th, but something came up. It was rather annoying; it was one of the reasons I'd been looking forward to the Easter break.

But about Season Five...it would be nice if it had a few extras, although I'd get it just to see the "Thanksgiving Orphans" episode. I have that on video, but it'd be nice to see it in DVD format.

My favorites from Season 5:

“The Proposal”, “Chambers vs. Malone”, “Diamond Sam” & “I do, Adieu” (quite obvious).
“Abnormal Psychology” & “Dinner at Eight-ish” (Frasier & Lilith at their best).
“Simon Says”, absolutely brilliant from A to Z, I love John Cleese in this one.
“Cheers: The Motion Picture”, superb writing by Phoef Sutton, excellent idea for an episode.

Other highlights from Season 5:

-The AWESOME kiss between Sam & Diane in “Knights of the Scimitar”.
-The family-are-the-ones-you-choose-to-be-with kind of feeling in “Thanksgiving Orphans”.
-Frasier’s “Mama-Bahamas” tan in “Tan N’ Wash”.
-Woody carrying that big plant in “Norm’s first hurrah” (one of the funniest moments in the whole series).

On the negative side, I think Sam needed a good haircut during the first episodes of that season. :p
I don’t like the path Diane’s character followed during that season, either; chasing Sam that way became somewhat tiring, and it was also very unlike her. The Diane I loved was proud, prissy, and -no matter how pseudo-feminist-, she would never quit her job after getting married! :)

That is such a great episode. I find it hilarious that throughout the whole episode when everyone is fighting, Sam just sits there and eats the whole time. Then he randomly pops in every once in a while and makes a comment with his mouth is full of food. :rotflmao:

I'm excited and sad at the same time for S5, because it was Shelley's last season on Cheers. The next Cheers release we'll see after that will finally have Kirstie in it...So weird.

Here is our review:
http://www.sitcomsonline.com/cheersseason5dvdreview.html

Sadly, no special features once again. They probably want to keep the price as low as possible. Would have been nice to see the alternate ending for I Do and Adieu if it still exists.

You can get a rebate of $15 on this set if you've bought any of the other releases, so you can get it a bit cheaper.

It actually does still exist. I've seen it. Fox aired it in '98 on the special Behind the Laughs: The Untold Stories of Television's Favorite Comedies, hosted by Mike Farrell. I used to have it on tape, but unfortunately, I lost it years ago in a move.

I mentioned pretty much the same thing in this thread. I can't decide which one I like better. I really like both Shelley & Kirstie, so I can't just decide. Unfortunately, I was barely 2 years old when Shelley left in 1987 so I have no memory of seeing Shelley when "Cheers" was still in its original run. I remember seeing "Cheers" in about 1988 or so and by that point, Kirstie was in her 2nd year on the show. The Kirstie years is the only one I remember...I remember because she was in "Look Who's Talking" in 1989 and I remember when I first saw that movie, I recognized her in the movie as the lady from "Cheers."

Okay, that was a long-winded answer...

That's interesting.

I was born in 1992, and I remember my parents watched Cheers a lot when I was little. The show wasn't quite over yet when I was little, but I would be to little to remember something like that! I bet my parents watched it in reruns.

I think I liked Cheers better when there was a Diane on the show. I liked Kirstie/Rebecca too, no question.

Right after I made my last post in this thread, I checked out your profile. I thought to myself, "She sounds older than 13." It's all good. :)

It would've been pretty neat if you had been born earlier so that you could remember watching Cheers in its original run.

No question about it...It's definitely a show that can be enjoyed by all ages.

LOL. A lot of people say I sound older than 13... I don't think I do, but... Thanks!

Yeah, I wish I was born earlier. It had to have been re-runs my parents watched because they watched the episodes with Shelley in them... I just realized that! LOL.

I remember I was little, and my Mom was watching Cheers. It was the episode where Diane and Sam are getting married at the bar, but Sam changes his mind after saying 'I do.' I forget the episode's name, but that's not the point here. LOL. Anyways... my mom was watching it and I remember saying "Mommy! Play with me! Stop watching Cheers... again." My mom said "But, honey, I've been on my feet all day. Give me half an hour." I remember I got SO upset and said I would never watch Cheers EVER for enjoyment... LOL. My mom watched Frasier on rare occasions too, to get a break... I swore I'd never watch that show either... but I do now. LOL. Times have changed for me.
